  1. I don’t like those wheels, preferred the original pressed steel ones personally.
  2. Sorry, meant Rochford. It’s had a lot of work, and I’m impressed with the engine bay but I think it’s originality as an unmodified basic 1300 has been lost a bit
  3. It’s on eBay again, now in Rockford Kent? It’s been resprayed red and fitted with alloys, biddings now £4300.00, ends today

    Mark 2 door

No longer have my Cortina, but I have had a clear out of the garage and come across the near side front door. The glass is all good and the lock and window winder work. Anyone want it? Collection please, or if local to South Manchester can deliver.
  5. Ive just seen it on ebay, bidding is at £1500.00, its now in Clacton. If anyone on here gets it, let me know
  6. As you may, or may not know, I very sadly had to sell my Mark 2 in June due to financial pressures. I was so sad to see it go, and it went to a guy in Southampton who had it back on Ebay a week or two later. I would be interested if anyone on here has seen it or heard of it since?

Sadly, I have to announce that my personal circumstances have changed a bit for the worse and I am unable to keep my Cortina, so I am giving you guys on here first refusal, but it is also going on Ebay probably today/tomorrow There are pics on here, see members cars - work resumed on Mark2. It is a 1970 1300 deluxe which I got back on the road in December after a three year restoration, partly by myself and the main work by my local MOT station, E & D Motors in Handforth, Cheshire. The positive stuff is no rot, 2x good s/h front wings, bonnet, bootlid and n/s/f door, new Weber carb, distributor, water pump, clutch, battery, 4 good tyres, new brake & clutch master cyls, wheel cyls and recon clutch slave cyl. new brake pipes. Interior good, drivers seat reupholstered, new carpets. Engine and gearbox good The negative side is a tendency to overheat that I have not yet sorted out, but suspect it needs another flush, and the fact that I sprayed it myself, using cans. If you want a showpiece, its not for you, but if you want a reminder of what standard Mark 2s were like back in the day, its ideal Its MOT'd to December this year, price? Ive looked on classic car price guides and they suggest £4000.00 ish for a useable one, but open to sensible offers The car is in Handforth, south Manchester, pm me if interested This is a reluctant sale and it will almost certainly be the last Cortina I will ever own....:(
  11. Love this. That pale lime green colour is my favourite Mark 1 colour.
  12. Hi, I have a few parts left over from the restoration: Autolite carb - works but mixture screw seized Another carb, similar but had an auto choke, which was removed. I don't honestly know what it was off - does work, but jetting wasn't right for the Mark 2 1300 Zenith carb - may fit a pre x flow, wouldn't fit the later x flow 1300 Front door quarterlight bootlid - poor condition, rusty around bottom edge - MIGHT be salvageable if you are a good welder 2x 4 door door cards one or two other small bits, will have another look in the garage and do another list Collect in South Manchester/Stockport area £50.00 the lot
  13. Same on a Mark 2, a bit of a fiddly thing to get the screws to line up with the washer jets
  14. I did the same on the Mark 5 I had, the manually adjustable pedal from a Mark 3 or 4 fits and does away with the ratchet, which, in my opinion, was useless.
  15. Hi, more or less sorted the overheating but I still feel it runs a bit hotter than it should, the needle on the temp gauge is usually over the half way point, and the water in the rad is, once more, brown and a bit dirty. Seems to still be some sediment in there, last time the garage flushed it but I'm having a go now. Do I put the heater control to off, drain the rad, then refill it and add the flush agent Ive got, run it for a few minutes, with the heater ON, drain again, heater now OFF and refill?
