Trying to identify the paint colour for my 1963 Mk1 Cortina estate assembled in NZ.

The id tags lists the paint code as 39W AD3.

Any help appreciated. 

The bumpers for my car are a bit ropey, so my intention is to bang them as straight as I can and then paint them black to match the car. I will look out for a better set down the line when funds allow.

Anywho, other than keying the surface, does anyone have any other tips for painting over chrome? Any particular prep techniques? Or paints to avoid?

Is there a particular product to fill the seam between the front valance and the bottom of the wing?

From memory it looks like some sort of caulk. The little clip thingy that retains the screw is causing a slight gap between the two. If it weren't for that I would probably not bother.

p.s. I may take the clip off and see how it looks with nuts and bolts there instead.

Been a while since I've posted. 

I've found puddles of water inside my car behind the dashboard, where the bottom of the windscreen and the crash pad meet. 

Could this be a leak from the windscreen itself? Or is there another way the water could've got in? 

The pic is just to show where the water was sitting (circled red). 

When I tried wiping away the water it seemed to run towards the ends of the crash pad, and drip down behind, and come out from the back down below by the pedals. I don't think any of the electrics there got wet. 

It's a 1972 MK3.

Should the bit highlighted in blue (that engages with the wiper arm) rotate independently of the bit highlighted in purple?

It seems not on mine, but that means it will be rubbing against the bodywork of the car while the wipers are in motion. 

I would have expected the flats (highlighted in orange - I am good at this computer stuff) are to hold the fat bit still so it can't rub??

Or am I being simple?

I've ordered some window scrapers to replace the brittle cracked ones on my mk 4. Any tips for fitting them, e.g. does the window glass need to cone out?

On a related note, having examined the inside of one of the doors, it looks like the clear plastic sheeting that sits under the door cards is ripped & shredded. Is replacement of this just a case getting some heavy duty plastic sheet and sticking it on?

As can be seen, the front bumper brackets from my car look like wet spaghetti - I guess the previous owner was a devotee of touch-parking?

Anywho, is does the one on the left look like they're supposed to? Or is the long straight bit at the back supposed to be at 90 degrees to the very front bit?

If anyone can share a piccy of unmangled brackets that would be much appreciated.

For a autumn/winter project, I thought I'd start the process of sorting out the ragged vinyl roof. Think I'm leaning towards removal & just painting it. I'm planning to do as much of the prep as possible, and then get it painted properly. 

The main problem I have at the moment is I can't figure out for the life of me how the plastic grills on the C pillar detach. Does anyone know?

I have a dashboard on my 75 Cortina that has all kinds of rattles and buzzing sounds that I can't seem to find the source of that is slowly driving me crazy.  

I've taken out the instrument cluster and glovebox  but still can't find it. They seem to be coming from near the air vents and the around the heater controls but i can't find anything loose. Does anyone know what the fix is?

I've sorted the vibrations from around the gearbox by changing the mount back to the Ford one but this problem remains
