If you did find an original console you would end up cutting most of it up.
Sounds like you would need to cut the front padded section away to allow your gear leaver through , then if your hand brake is between the seats( trans tunnel ) then you would also have to cut the ski slope to allow the hand brake leaver through , All in all a bit of a hatchet job.
Perhaps you would be better off making your own than to sacrifice a genuine console ( if you can find one )
Years ago it would just be a case of popping down to Halfords and buying a wooden console ( remember them ? ) and adapting that , but sadly those days
are long gone. If memory serves me well the early Cortina MK2 GT had a short console with out the clock section at the front but with arm rest , perhaps
this may be a good starting point again if you can find one.
