  1. Thanks guys, ordered some of these, so should hopefully work 👍
  2. Thanks Craig, I had slotted it back in and carried on trying to undo the lock nut but it was already fairly rounded off, so packed up for the day and thought I better seek some advice from here on whether me rack was actually knackered 🤪 Ill get me stilsons on it now I know it’s ok, any idea if I can get hold off a couple of new locking nuts, they’re already rounded off and the stilsons are not gona make them any prettier 😆 Thanks again, you’re a legend mate
  3. Hi people, I’m here again with another quick question, after changing the upper and lower ball joints I thought I may aswell go the whole hog and swap the track rod ends, I released the track rod from the stub axle first as Haynes says, the locking nut and track rod end are rusted tight 🙄, my question is : is it normal that the whole steering rack shaft turns freely when trying to undo the track rod end?
  4. Thanks mk4 savage, I had already been on your thread and saw you’d still got the retaining plates and had refitted them, that’s what made me question not having them! 🤣
  5. Ahhh that makes sense, thanks Craig, didn’t want to have to take them back off again, was a pain to line up the holes/tie rods😓, followed your advice from a previous thread though 👍
  6. Thanks a lot guys, really appreciate the replies, that’s put my mind at ease
  7. Hi there, Quick question, just finally swapped out my knackered ball joints, only one had the retaining plate, nothing on the other one and no retaining plates in the new ball joints, do these need to be on as I can’t find any to buy!! Any help would be much appreciated, thanks people, Ant
  8. Thanks Craig, really appreciate you taking the time to share your knowledge, that’s a massive help
  9. Hi there, I’m in the process of fitting a new throttle cable, I had a right game working blind to unclip the old cable from the top of the pedal, I stupidly forgot to get a picture 1st and nose I’m mot sure which way it clips back in to the top of the pedal, thought the Haynes manual would help but that show s a completely different clip to the one I have, I’ve tried searching but to no avail, any advice would be greatly appreciated, hopefully the pics show! thanks in advance, Antony
  10. Thanks a lot guys, really appreciate the replies, Ant
  11. Thanks a lot guys, So is it best practice to change out the top ones at the same time? And are they riveted in as well? much appreciated, Ant
  12. Hey there, Looking for a bit of advice if possible please, had an advisory on my 1972 Cortina’s MOT last year : “Offside Front Lower Suspension component ball joint dust cover severely deteriorated (5.3.4 (b) (i))” I want to sort it before this years MOT so can anyone recommend good quality replacements? I see a lot of parts out there QH etc but are they actually any good?? Is it worth actually replacing the ball joints or just replace the dust covers on the current? If replacing the ball joints is it best practice to do top and bottom? Any advice very much appreciated, Thanks
  13. Thanks guys, I know silicone grease is recommended but none of the silicone grease I’ve come across actually says anything about polyurethane bushes.....except the little superflex pouches and I want/need a bigger tin/tube really! Ant
  14. Hi guys, Just wondered what grease/lubricant you use when fitting poly bushes? Google search just bring up multiple greases with pros and cons!! Just wondered what you guys use? Any help/info would be much appreciated, Thanks, Ant
  15. Thanks for the replies guys, appreciate it. Hey Craig, I have the square mounting brackets but not the tie bars, will I have any issues getting the correct ones? Also because my pfl didn’t come with arbs will the mounting holes be there? Thanks again for helping and sharing your vast knowledge 👍👍
