dgas carb on 1600 x flow
dan 67 tin corner 1600e :) replied to dan 67 tin corner 1600e :)'s topic in Engine & Transmission
it came off a 1600 xflow worked fine, mines 1660, camed, stage 2 head. had twin 45s on it at 1 point but just wana go reliable dgas while im doing aload of work on her over winter. :/ -
just bolted the (v6 dgas) carb on the 1660 xflow. started straight up revs and runs lovely above 1700 rpm, try and drop the idle, lumpy and cuts out, no aparent air leeks. the mixture screw doesnt seem to make (much) diference right in or right out. notice theres no breather from the dizzy to carb, but there wasnt one on the old (32 36)carb. crank breather is conected. non servo. and the carbs been cleaned through. any ideas?? cheers Dan.

well im not really sure what its worth, aha to be honest im pretty cash strapped at the moment so if it was quick cash id be happy with like £1100'ish with room for a good hagggle ?? cheers dan. -
right after some hard thingking i want to sell the mk2, asap. 1967, sieries 2, 4 door, running a mk2 escort 1600 crossflow. a running project i use it daily with 6 months mot left iv done alot of work, but as is often the case theres just too much that needs doing an im working 7 days a week now. iv had a strut top panel just welded in and slam panel repaird (good job) and fiberglass drivers wing in primmer. front end is all polly bushed, new inner and outer track rod ends and recond controll arms. engines got new electronic ignition, coil and all bottom end bearing replaced 2000 miles ago, and running a 32/36 dgav rebuilt 2000 miles ago (although could do with the auto choke being swaped for the manual type.) the main work it needs for next mot is.. new sills( i will include the outer skins) and the front outer chassis sections (also included). the nearside rear wheelarch is made of filler and theres filler in other places. i can include new rear pollybushes a spare 2000e gearbox if you like that needs rebuilding maybee other parts i have hanging around like engine mounts new goodrich braided brake hoses that need fitting and new rear wheel cylinders. you just need rear shoes and youve got new brakes all round. obviously viewing is abit of a must. but i basically need cash for another project :P offers??? sorry for waffling on just trying to make you aware. like i say it does need work. allso it was orriginally a 1300 deluxe but is running 1600 gearbox(2000e) and rear axel, brakes and suspension on weller wheels 2inch lowered. iv owned this car for 18 months, on the road the whole time. its rough but not dead! :) and compleet. any questions or info just ask, cheers. dan.

right iv moved the battery to the boot of my mk2 to give more engine space, iv put a bolt through the boot floor for the earth wire which is on bare metal and good and tight. and joined 2 battery wires together to meet the solenoid, and 2 together to meet the dynamo output. all runs good have ignition lights but is too slow turning over and wont start. ( its a good battery) obviously i need some proper battery wire to do it in one, but where can i get this in longer leingths and is there a heavier core of wire to transmit power more? and are there any other things or tips for improving current. im guesing im just loosing power somewhere? cheers. Dan.

Brilliant ill try a set of thoes then :) cheers. Dan. -
i need to change the rear break cylinders and shoes on my late mk2, trouble is it was a 1300 delux, but i bought it with a 1600 engine, i asumed it was all 1300 running gear so orderd some 1300 ones but they are waaay too small. im asumeing this means i need 1600 e/gt ones?? each old one measures 200mm straight through the middle. is this what i need?? also i need new rear cylinders. are thease the same for all variations of the mk 2 or not?? again the main cylinder measures 55mm, dont know how els to describe this but any help would be amazing so i can go ahead and order them. the mole grips have been on the break lines for long enough ;) . cheers. dan.

head gasket?
dan 67 tin corner 1600e :) replied to dan 67 tin corner 1600e :)'s topic in Engine & Transmission
Ok , so could you put a GT gasket on if its a standard?? Is it because you have one? The GT ones are usually dearer. I can't see why not though. No i dont have one yet but i would like to have one ready so i can take the head off and get the whole job done in the same day like. dont mind spending abit more for a descent one. Ok cheers well ill have to take it off and give it a look :) its just im fitting twin 40s and a new exhaust manifold so im trying to get everything done at the same time. cheers for the info. Dan. I see, You'll only really find out if it's a GT when you take the head off & see what gasket is on there. There's no visable difference with just the head off apart from that between a GT & an HC. -
