How hard will this be to convert back to fit a 1500 engine,obviously a new tunnel will be needed but have you cut much of the engine bay about ?..i might be interested if it isnt going to cost me a small fortune ??? im looking for a mk1 cortina and this seems to be a cheap 2door, look forward to seeing some more pics thanks;kev

Being a escort owner,i should be fighting my corner about this,but a have to agree with you,ive stopped buying classic & retro ford mags now as its the same old thing time after time (and yes i mean escorts)..i love the cars but theres only a certain amount of times you can read the same thing about them (all be it cosworth conversion/standard etc etc ).. i think that escorts have hit there peak now and are to over priced,and the cortina(especially mk1) is taking there place in the buyers market at present,you,ve only got to look how there prices are going.... seeing your saxon colin has been a breath of fresh air this year ,a totally different ford and every time i look at it i see something else you,ve done,i never get fed up with looking at the saxon and its getting the interest from the magazines/public and more importantly the ford motor company it diserves..its a real acheivement colin and well done, "its a stunning car" kev

Hi all im fairly new to the cortina scene,and im currently on the look out for a fairly tidy mk1 cortina (well road worthy and requiring not to much welding).. My question is !! where are the areas on the cortina mk1 i really need to check before parting with any money !! i know the doors,around the headlights,rear bottom panel,spring hangers and top plates are prone to rust ?? is there anything else ?? also with a gt model,is there a serial number on the chassis plate to look for ?i.e with my current rs escort its gcat***********.... or strengthening plates anywhere..... any advise would be appriciated on this Thanks;kev
