hi i have a set of 5 im willing to sell, pm me with best offers, im in norfolk, suffolk, area near thetford forest, but head down to london every 4 weeks,
  6. i used a C class merc one, but in header tank, needs a bit of work but cheaper than buying one new, http://www.buysellcortina.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/43123-project-cor-tina/page__st__15 might be to much work but fits and works better than an old cortina one
  7. well the waste gate on the turbo siezed open and it caused the turbo to over boost and blow, never heard a diesel engine rev so much for so long, seemed like it was revving to 10,12,000 revs per minute, was quite scary, but entertaining, the turbo dropped parts down the oil return pipe, then this caused the bottem end to smash its self to bits, the was more parts in bits but couldn't find them to take pics off,
  8. Well it’s been a long time since I have updated so here goes, 3 weeks ago I was heading to London when my car started to run ., then it lost all power and the oil light come on, Pulled over and had a leak around the turbo, but need to get my daughter home so topped the oil up and carried on slowly, after awhile I had lost all boost, Anyway after about 10 mins the engine started to rev its nuts of, turn the key of and it was still revving, pulled over and it was kicking out loads of smoke, filled the motorway, lol, Anyway y I was waiting I pulled the inlet pipe of and the turbo had blown, The next day I went and got another turbo, came home and fitted it, new oil and she fired up, went around the block and it started to rattle, Got home and turned it of, Well I decided that the engine had to come out to have a look inside, went to drop the oil out and I found two big holes in the side of my sump, with the engine out I took the sump of and found the oil pump shaft had broken into 5 bits, broken con rod, broken oil pump sprocket, as well as the hols in the sump, and the block had split in about 8 places New engine was sourced from a mondeo, Endura de, 1.8, I started to swop all the parts from my engine to convert it to rear wheel drive, had my brother in-law weld and reshape my sump, and I got it all sorted, Had to buy a pattern sump gasket witch I don’t like, put the engine back in and it fired up and ran smooth, happy days, well after about 80 miles it started to leak oil from the sump gasket, not happy, Last Saturday I pulled the engine out swopped the sump gasket with a ford one, put the engine back in, not bad for 4 hours work, So now all running I can carry on with my mods, today’s mod was sort out my old Cortina radiator, found a nice ali one with a built in header tank, Oh I also fitted my roof mounted clock, will put some pics up tomorrow,
  9. well today i converted the front suspension to coil overs as the cut down springs failed the mot, bit or a bodge if u ask me, any way i have also have a lot more pics of the rear suspension, polished rocker, and the filler cap i made, oh and some other stuff i have done over the last few months, hope u enjoy, repair to the gear box tunel more polishing, cortina head light covers rear spoiler rear window louver rear suspension, polished rocker cover with the 1.8 diesel machined of and the filler cap i made
  10. thanks i am getting around 65 ish miles a gallon, if im flat out or drive like a granddad, lol
  11. Well long time no update, but I have been doing things on my Cortina, well I have now converted the rear suspension to coil over’s, and have raised the rear up by about an inch, I have just had to change the head gasket as I had an oil leak, but y I was there I also replaced the water pump, belts and pullys, oh and I have also fitted my polished rocker cover, and my newly made oil cap, I will take some pics tomorrow, after my MOT, just hopes it passes,
  12. Can anyone help me out as I keep breaking prop shafts; I am after a prop to fit an mk5 Cortina salon, with a 5 speed type 9 gearbox, The one I am after is the non rubber one, so a front universal joint, I have had a bonded front yoke type ( 3bolts) and have tried the doughnut one (6 bolt) and both have . them self’s after a short amount of time, it needs to be a 25spline shaft to fit the gearbox, Can any one help?
