  1. Yep that's the one ... Thanks
  2. I don't have one to hand, does anyone know what the diameter of the front tie rod is ( the one that sets the caster )
  3. Yes, I was thinking 300 ish myself, RD say rears are higher poundage than the fronts too ?
  4. AS above does anyone know what the poundage of the front springs are on a mk3 ?
  5. Unless you really need inertia reel belts ? then fixed ones are so easy to fit, I used some mk3 capri ones when I did mine a few years back
  6. I would run the 7kg one it will rev up faster & feel more responsive, a slight trade off is you may find it easier to stall but nothing that will bother you
  7. I think this has been about a good while Ian, it was if I am correct all blue before & was on that tv programme cor its a Cortina ?
  8. The mt75 box is a manual box ? but what you mean i think is this, you will need a two box's a 2 wheel drive mt75 from a 4 cylinder car & a the v6 box this will be a 4x4 box, you are better of with the v6 box ratio's so to this end you will need the v6 front case input shaft & all the gears, you will then need the 2wd box rear case & main shaft (the v6's mainshaft runs into the transfer box) swap all the gears & put back together !!, the 2wd input shaft is to short so you must use the v6 one If you use the 2.8's flywheel you will need to alter the clutch fork pivot pin & the box's/rear case's come with either or both speed sensor & speedo drive For great help & more info look here, both engines & box's are covered you will need to register..... http://www.fordpower.org.uk/forum2/index.php
  9. Depends what your plans for the top of the column are but tbh the capri column is to short, if you want to put the old cortina stalk /cover back on you will need to pull the column up that means sinking the lower joint into the bulkhead a bit, i always use the stock column, cut the box off & mod the end, rally design do splined shaft & joints. I would rather use all capri parts inc. xmember if you do, dont use the capri's 24mm roll bar if you do you will find the car going straight on at bends !! oh & the new xmember does NOT sit in the same place as the old one
  10. Thats the type of thing i was after malc, & yes i thought it was uv rays too, i always keep it covered too but none of them are getting any more supple with age!! Malc are you doing a meet at 38 then ?
  11. Ok what do you all use to keep your dash pads clean & supple ?, I was thinking mostly of the S1 gt dash pads to help stop the cracking !
  12. No matter how it may have been done on another car its easy to fit a rack to a car & have problems, the track rod inner pivot point needs to line up with inner tca joint...... ish !(in a line to the upper suspension mounting) so moving the rack up or down from being horizontally level with the tca will change the amount of bump steer, it can even bump steer when all is level When fitting a rack like you have, you should mock it up into what seems to be the correct position at ride hight, then with the springs off check for any bump steer over the suspensions full travel though not ideal some bump steer over a large amount of travel ie jacking the car up may well be found but on the road you may not have anything like as much travel & thus no real bump steer ! at the end of the day though the whole of the front suspension set up is reltive to itsself & the end result Thankfully there aint many avenger racks about now, as i can tell you first hand that a capri set up way out performs the avenger set up !

Well i can report that the cortina is now back in cornwall ! (just up the road from where kev got it from !) It ran great all the way I intend putting my own mark on it but nothing to radical .... no 24 valve's !! & it is the right colour already ... thanks kev Gary
  14. When i done my mk2 i used the stock boa cable through the bulkhead to the wrong side of the pedal i then reversed the pedals pull (whole new pedal) & all works as it should
  15. If you get the box out & lay one side of the "pitman arm" on the vice or solid surface & give it a solid hard hit (or 2!) on the other side,it should come off if it wont with the puller Your not trying to knock it off the shaft you need to strike it at 90 deg to the shaft you dont realy want to be heating up a steering box
