hi every body i have not posted for a few years now owing to my wife`s poor health & that has taken much of my time up my question is how do i post up pictures since i finished with photo bucket . i now run windows 10 & take photos which land up in `my photos` so how do i get an image code from them? i expect this has been explained before so forgive my ignorance.........Chris

can you decode my vin plate, my cortina is regesterd 16/5/79 which makes it over 40 years old to date but they tell me i have still have to wait until may 20/20 before it becomes hystoric is there any chance that i can get a build date for my cortina just in case it was lying about be fore it was regesterd.....Chris

no i did enter the converter in to the box while the box was out on the floor like you do..i learnt my lesson years & years ago with a rover 2000 bolted the converter to the engine & then lifted the box in ......Chris

yes its auto fluid when i first noticed it it took longer than normal to select reverse so i checked the g/box fluid level & it had droped quite a bit on the dip stick, toped it up & was ok but still leaving a small puddle of pink fluid on the garage floor.it will have to waite un till ive had my hernia opp not sposed to do any lifting for at least 6 weeks .....chris thanks for the reply richard...

i have got my mk 4 2.3 back on the road last summer but after doing about 600 miles i have a fluid leak from bell housing .i am quite supprised as i fitted seals front & rear while the engine & box was out.i was wondering if when i pushed in the converter i may have dislodged the seal spring.so it looks like i have got to have the box out again to check. i have topped up the box again but its still leaking & the fault is not going to go away...any idea`s....Chris picture of box with new seal fitted

hi all does anyone have a working wiper motor for my cortina mk 4 i979 2.3 its been making a strange noise & this morning it packed up all together now i have removed it & found the magnets have come unbonded & have been rubbing on the armature & have broken up. we have a club member i think lives in Sheffield that brakes a few cortina`s but i cant remember his name....Thanks Chris-Euro

i am on the last lap of finishing the 2.3 cortina.it is on the button now & have driven it up & down my drive way. the chap from the windscreen firm is booked to come & refit front & rear screens next week. a few pictures i also will try to make a vid/ of the engine running it sounds so sweet. this is what it used to look like but now you can eat your dinner on the inside & out side of the engine Chris

ime still working on my 79 mk 4 2.3,fitted a `new petrol pump` from my factors that failed right from the word go fitted a second one that worked ok but now that one has failed being stood up over the winter months.ive now decided to fit the original one back on.the only reason i changed it was to replace it with a nice new shiney one,those pumps must have come from China. all i have left to do now is to replace the two vinal roof strips & get front & rear glass re fitted where i removed them to cure the dredded water leaks that ive had ever since ive owned the car.ime sure she will be out on the road this summer. rear parcel shelf cover intact for cortina saloon mk 4 2.3 colour not important,also board that blanks off boot area behind rear seat. i could come to collect if anybody have got above parts if you are not too far from Oxford.....Chris
