Check if the cooling rad is getting hot allover if partially blocked you may feel cool areas ,if stat was`nt opening it would boil up well before 5 miles unless maybe its partially restricted.

Mean outer trims

I think anodised aluminium is what the other metal trims ,non chrome plated ones, are made of.

Are you sure the centre console and heater panel are chrome Dave, I thought they were a dull aluminium finish I think the twist knob on the centre of the air vents may be chrome.

Yes KK my originals are 17" and new are 16 3/4" . I found that mine came from mk2 club and spoke with Rod who confirmed that arms came from Aus but that he never had a problem other than the hole for roll bar being offset by 2mm.I`m putting back old arms and Rod is swapping for two U.K. reconned ones at Monmouth but in meantime am interested whether anyone else has encountered same problem.

Anyone know if there is more than one type of track control arm for mk2. I have replaced both arms [forged type] with what seems to be reconned ones with a no. KT20306 stamped on ,however after fitting steering took a lot of track adjustment to straighten up and does`nt feel as good as it was. It`s difficult to measure accurately in place but as far as I can see the new ones seem shorter by about 1/4 inch and wheels do look to be cambered at bottom . Any thoughts welcomed.
