  1. i would have thought in the region of £4500-£5800 ish, going by description
  2. i fitted escort shocks on the rear of my mk2,as its a series 1 having the same chassis as mk 1 fitted fine and only cost about 20quid new.
  3. i had one of these in the 80s,i replaced carb with a twin choke from a 1300e.ran almost as good as a 1600 ohv.
  4. sounds like a good idea mate, all I know is there both based on the same chassis
  5. i think the bolt is welded to the shackle itself, both {bolts} are fixed to shackles one to the top and one to the bottom.you cant remove them unless both nuts and washers are removed first
  6. i replaced my rear shocks with mk2 escort ones ,shorter than mk2 Cortina but doesn't interfere with ride or handling, available off shelf in most motor factors
  7. i have a white astra diesel estate and my wife has a white astra estate but petrol.i really have to think when I'm in a garage .should make her fuel her own up really.
  8. think you were right first time baz, when I changed my inserts I only had a c spanner, nothing with prongs on.
  9. missed the estate so keep looking then innit.
  10. had a look at 1600xle and when the guy said a few paint work issues he wasn't kidding.he called it micro blistering I call it rust, rotten around base of c pillars, side panel of rear wing peppard with large blisters, roof pitted here and there, front wings not so good either.well worth saving not to much work for some guys on here but to much for me to do,also a bit pricey at nearly £6750 considering condition.couldnt get to see estate last weekend so trying to get there Thursday if poss.i will keep you posted as to how I get on.
  11. no storage for me,use it all year round.many a time swept snow off with a broom(when the wifes not out flying it)before I could drive it.
  12. don't do camping but do go fishing so handy for that
  13. think its going to be estate if its still available,as dave said ive had an E before(3 actually) and a gt also had 1300 deluxe in the 70s,paid 150 quid for that.just fancy something a bit different, hes up for having my car in p/x aswell.
  14. never heard of an xle,i did notice a few things different, thought it had had a few things changed, your a knowledgable man dave
