Yes very good info Indeed but any Mk3 owners remember if used on mk3 they will sit even lower than mk4/5 (an 1" lower I think), I know as my mk3 sat way to low with the v6 mk4/5 -1" springs and grounded like a ship on a sandbank. Have now put rubber towing coil spring assisters all round and fitted a 2.3 v6 front half exhaust and it clears most things well and sits great. So maybe not great job but gets the job done, as I could not find uprated -1" lowered Mk3 springs

No not on early ones but then again is there much more on a mk1 escort. I got my Ecu and loom up behind dash on that side of the car so would have a wee bit of a re-wire to do but I think its do able. And my Mot tester sure woudnt see it

Damn did I say rack ? yes I did it should have said Steering Column
-
Now that`s a tidy job I think the hardest part will be sourcing a donor pre face lift steering rack in my case

Its a long shot but I am after a rear Axle from 2.3 Cortina for my 2.9 Cosworth engine pre face lift mk3 Also an old steering column for early mk3 any condition will do as it will be chopped about for a project. Many thanks Mike

Got my capri 2.8 cable but its a little to short and wont open the throttle all the way open so put the old made up one back on as it does the job for now, I am starting to wonder are the early pre face lift mk3 cables are different in length

Cheers for the replies guys I may well take the plunge and give it a go as with the v6 lump and a small steering wheel its a little heavy on the steering. About the MOT it could be right some testers may get funny but, but I would doubt most would even know it was done as the motor would be behind the dash so they wouldn't even notice it. I will have a hunt around for the parts and see how it goes.

Hi has anyone ever had a go at fitting elec power steering to a Cortina? I am looking at the Corsa b units as they look like they can be made to fit most cars any ideas.
-
Think this may help

Nice one ebay here I come

Did you get a capri cable ?
-
Thats the front half then I just used straight pipe upto the axel then flexy pipe under the axel into the cortina back box on one side and granada box on the other. Its too loud and and not enough back pressure so runs cold. I have just got it clearing the speed humps using a set of rubber spring asisstors in front and rear springs. I aint had time to re do the exhaust yet but I am tempted to go to Longlife stainless steel place and get them to make a full system for me in smaller bore and over the axel an maybe find some very slim centre boxes to go on it as well.

Funny that I was looking at one on ebay last night and thought it looked the right fitment but wasnt sure of the cable length being long enough. If you get one could let me know if it fits that would be great.

This would work but would have to mod the cable bracket as its a large square hole and the bulkhead on the cortina would need a bracket to hold the cable in place as the cortina had a plastic bracket with screw to hold the cable.

At the moment I just got it sat on the inner wing and do get a very small drop of oil come out of it which as you say would plumb into the air filter box, but yes I think it would be best to put a small washable filter on it but dont think its a must as its only crank case gases coming out of it.
