  1. boom!! the drift slagggg as it stands, needs few more coats and centre of bonnet going black i think like the roof
  2. ready for its mot at end of month now, few more suspension mods to get it sitting right and away we go, had a little drive in it slides nicely so all good and well!
  3. after a mk5 indicator stalk. Mines knackard Cheers
  4. Ah. Was it hard to do? And yes yorkie she does. Will never look the the same again unfortunately. But its one of my toys and I plan to use it and abuse it till my gartrac is done.
  5. boot floor painted rear all stripped out steering wheel fitted
  6. wouldnt really bother with the 4.4 mate. yourll be constantly changing gears and running out of speed on the long corners. neither a lsd, there not very good for drifting properly in a small engined car, fine for fun on roads though me and my mates always rip them out and weld up a normal diff. can you tell me more on the modified escort quick rack? ive been trying to find out if i can get a quick rack for some time now!
  7. Haven't seen you at any drift events mate. I wont be doing rdc in this. Maybe the gartrac g3 once its done. Mines running 2.3 atlas type with one of my welded diffs. car is fully polybushed. Although im probably going to make solid mounts for rear axle as ive already killed a set of powerflex axle bushes last year. Its underpowered with the 2.8 though. So a boa will be going in. Amd hopefully it'll let me kick back end out at 90+ The other issue im having is getting more lock. Im playing with rack spacers' atm. But have to add wider wheel spacers' on front. so wheel dont clobber the wishbones. Either that or ill have to notch them. It had no where near enough lock last year Whats been done to yours?
  8. changed the ending of this car, as i havent got the money to plough into my cosworth engine so i cant get the gartrac out drifting, so the cortinas now underway to becoming a drift car. still running the 2.8 atm but going 24v cosworth for the extra power its lacking hydraulic hand brake been ordered. harnesses are on there way omp steering wheel fitted rack spacers for more lock currently being made up 32mm wheel spacers and longer studs fitted on front for wider track painted front subframe to tart it up a little new ball joints fitted front arches slowly getting rolled maxxis ma-z1 13" tyres for front collected 25 13" tyres on rims for the rear next is strip it out, get it motied and back on road and get a drift day in. possibly the first mk5 cortina drift car..
  9. Yeah it was welded when i bought it. but the bearings Went shortly after so put normal diff in for few months . There easy and predictable. I run welded diffs in every rwd road car ive had.
  10. As title says need a bottom rear shock bolt mine snapped. Struggeling to find one that would be the same
  11. hi mate, ive built bike carbs up and set them up for a 1.8 zetec mk3 escort i had. a bit different as zetec ran coil pack. but i did alot of research on them and i also built a set on a 1600 xflow. yourld have to have a take off point on each branch on the inlet for the vacumn and link these together. i built these into my inlet. if your building your own manifold most bike carbs have to sit inbetween 30-45degress. i ran zx7r carbs on the xflow and zx9r carbs on the zetec. r1 carbs seem a good one to use but also come with a price tag because people are aware that there the most comman to use, the jets will have to be redrilled to suit your engine, and bike carbs will be a pain to set up using individual filters, its best to make up a base plate and use a foam filter. you will find some carbs will have a vacumn pipe that does link all the carbs together so you could use this which would save a bit of time, unfortinatly i dont know which ones, i only know my zx6r has them on but them carbs will be too small for a car engine. the benfits over dcoes, is that bike carbs do not need setting up every 6 months, they dont come out of balance, there alot more reliable with the same benfits as dcoe's they sound pretty much the same as dcoe's aswell. aslong as your a competant fabricator making a manifold should be to hard, you can buy the flange already done on ebay for most engines, if not for around £30 most engineering shops would make one up using a gasket as a template. any help then give me a shout mate.
  12. yup eventually. probably going to experiement with a t3 turbo on the current 2.8 at the moment, as i want to fork out a fair bit of money on the 302 or 351 engine to get around 350-400bhp. but i do also need to crack on with building my cosworth gartac which has sat on my mothers drive for 4 years now lol
  13. Widening is easy. They do rod extensions at rallydesign. The main bit is the mounts. And they look expensive lol
  14. danc001

    my mk5 :)

looks really nice that, needs to go lower in my eyes though lol. always wondered what starmags would look like on one, suits it really well. well done on the work, whats your future plans?
  15. i cant comment on the box but ive played with my diff, although my speedo dont work so cant say on acceleration or speed front, but if it helps i have once left a chav in a 320i e36 from a stand still to 5th gear lol on a downside the cortina doesnt stand a chance against my chipped 190bhp merc c240 estate lol i have a 2.8 on carbs with a 2.3 box. run 3.9 welded diff and have ran a 3.44 welded diff. it all depends on what you want i prefer the 3.9 as it spins the wheels easier in higher gears lol
