  1. Thanks Lotuscops, this is the manifold I have, i made an adaptor plate and fitted an autolite carburetor from a mk2 Escort, a few years ago. It was a brand new carburetor, (nos) I guess I'm better off going the drilling/tapping route Which size of drilling hole/tap would you recommend I use? s
  2. Thanks steve, I will probably go down that route as it's going to be impossible to get the grub screw out. I was look ING for examples online of the method you described, but I can't find anything.
  3. Hi mk2sav, thanks for that, yes that's the type of manifold that I have, the flat head grub screw that's on my one probably has never been removed since it was fitted. I guess I should use some heat to try and remove it. Pity we don't know which thread it is, but I'm sure something will fit it. Should be ok I guess and like you said, that's probably the only option.
  4. Hi folks, can anyone tell me where the vacuum pipe from the a servo connects to the inlet manifold please? i know the servo will not improve the brake performance, but im getting old and i would like a softer brake pedal. There is a flat head grub screw on the inlet manifold, is this where the vacuum pipe goes? Thanks, Andy.
  5. Hi folks, can anyone give me some advice about fitting a servo to my 65 mk1 cortina 1500 pre crossflow please. I the servo will not improve the brakes, but I'm getting older and I just want a softer brake pedal. Does anyone know where I can connect the vacuum pipe to the inlet manifold? There is a flat head grub screw, probably there since day one, is this the take off for the vacuum pipe? And which thread is this fitting? I appreciate any advice. Thanks, Andy.
  6. Thanks Tigdlo, i should be getting round to it soon, thank you for your advice. I see you live in Herts, we lived in Walkern, near Stevenage for years. Sound, ill let you know how i get on.
  7. Thanks Tigdlo for your reply, i am also doing a steering rack conversion.I have a new mk1 fiesta rack, which steers from behind the struts like the cortina, only the starter is in the way tor the linkage. I can sort out the linkage with a combination of mk4 steering column and a few other bits. I need to fab some brackets to the rear of the cross member for the rack. The rack tie rods are about 25mm too long, so i need to cut and re thread the tie rods. There is just about enough of room for the conversion, when the steering rods etc. Are removed. About the type 2 box, i guess i would need a 3 bolt starter motor for that box? And would my prop shaft that box?
  8. Hi, the gearbox in my 65 mk1 1200 is making some groaning noises, i have an escort mk2 type 2 box, i would like to fit it. But which clutch kit do i need? I can sort the clutch cable and spigot bearing, do i need to change the prop shaft and starter motor? Thanks, Andy.
