thanks Ford1975, yes inner wings are pretty good, strut tops need some attention though as rust has crept between panels. Chassis rails have gone too, i will need to build a rotisserie at some point. Sadly not much will be happening this winter, not fun welding when it is freezing out (sometimes below -30C in midwinter :shocking: )But this leaves ample time to hunt down parts and such. Here's where i am now, (sorry for the poor picture :bag: ) This is the drivers side wheel well patched up, and was the most difficult panel to make this far, with them compound curves and all. Welds are not ground up yet. Oh and nothing but butwelds in this here car :icecream:

As i am buttoning things up for the winter (too cold to work outside) i thought that starting a thread on my project would be in order. This will be my first full restoration, i am learning things as i go along and taking my time with it, no need to rush things and make a bodge job of it. I bought the car last summer (2013) for 250€, it is almost complete with fairly good mechanical bits but the bodywork has seen it's best days (shocking i know, a rusty cortina ) It had been stored from 1989 in a open field with numerous other cars. It is at least original and unrestored Hoisted on the trailer On our back home (Mitsu not mine) At home WooHoo goodies on the trunk ,keys did not come with the car (seller promised to find them for me, yeah right, still lost  ), anyhow '79 volvo 244's keys worked great. More to come...

Hi MLI, By chance i did find a Norwegian 50 øre coin under the carpet in this car, perhaps this car is originally from Norway :headscratch: FIN marking on the manufacture label did threw me off, but i just realized that back then our country code was still SF. Lots of cars came to finland from Sweden and Norway in the '80s when people that immigrated there to work in late '60s and 70's were moving back. Even i as a kid was imported from Visby :D

Thank you CorkTina and Mark! Sadly the car is beyond rescue, way worse than AERO_ADYs MK2 or CORTINA-CITYs MK3 :tears: (exellent threads, took me days to finish reading!) Essentially it's rusted in half and only roof is holding front and back together. Worth millions you say? As a special offer i will sell it to you for just one million :clown: As a side note, the car had plastic heater unit case and indoor hood release from factory (as far as i can tell). If anyone wants pics, i'll be sure to take some. D-FENS, It's Peter, nice to meet you. Keeping odd hours in this end, as i'm on holiday.

I bought a spares car for my MkII (too far gone to repair, can't save them all :tears: ) Luckily it has many of the bits i need in my project. One thing is bugging me though, i cannot find any reference on the Net for a MkII VIN that starts with CN? I did however see one picture of Mk3 that had the CN designator, it was assembled in Netherlands but had a plague that had this mentioned, mine does not. Anyway here's the info from plates: VIN plate: LL A A D003 CN92JE64493 B5P The "painted" one: CN92JE64493 LUXE FIN BU HD 02-50 AA Stamped VIN matches the one in the plates. The car is in scandinavian spec; hi-cap starter, radiator blinds (only operating chain left). All the other numbers match, '69, fern green, 2 doors etc. Just curious, that's all ^_^
