Yes the sumps are different so if you use the capri engine swap the sumps first dont make the same mistake i did, that was a pain in the .! I used the 1.6 sump on my 2.0 capri engine and that was fine.

Got front and rear For the 1.6 & 2.0 Not V6 . Originally purchased from burton power. uprated and they lower the mk4 by 2" and the mk5 by 1" ? sound right to any one ? Anyway These were fitted to a car that never saw the road (got scrapped in the end,Too rotten!) so they still have the factory paint on them. There are a some marks on them obviously because they have been fitted to a car.. Anyone interested £30 The set + p+p . Collection welcome i am in stourbridge in the west midlands..

Some years back i fitted a Capri 2.0s engine into a 1.6 gl mk4 i used to own. The problem i had was the sump fowled on the cross member. At the time i did not realise they were different profiles, so ended up having to take the engine back out and swap it for the 1.6 sump and pick up pipe..

Noticed a small split appeared in the vinyl on my mk4 ghia roof and it`s starting to lift slightly. Just wondering if anyone knows the correct adhesive to use to try and stop it getting any worse. Someone did tell me to use evo stick but it says on the pack not suitable for vinyl. Any idea`s greatly received !

Parcel Shelf Size Differance Between Mk 4 & 5?
mk4savage replied to karl017's topic in Technical Discussion
some years ago i fitted a mk5 ghia interior into a mk4 including the parcel shelf. so yes the mk5 shelf should fit the mk4.i think they are just different shapes but the same size. -
the plug that goes to the gearbox, i think there is three wires if i remember correctly two are for reversing lights ( black and black with blue tracer?) and there should be a brown wire.you need to run the brown wire to earth . at least that is how i sorted mine and its still like it now with no problems.

I think a five speed sierra cable is the one you need for its extra length. you will have to change it from the auto one, as the drives are different on the auto and manual. i used a standard manual four speed cortina one on mine but i did have to stretch it a bit so you would be better using the sierra one.

i used unleaded in my mk4 with the original 2.3 v6 for about six months , no problems just pinking a bit.

you can also fit the rack with the subframe in the car. i removed and re fitted the one on my mk4, but i did have to disconnect the engine mounts and jack up the engine to allow for clearance.it is a bit of a tricky job!

hi mate. a few years ago a mate of mine fitted a power rack to his 74 mk3 2.0 gxl. he used a power rack from a mk4 2.3 . i think the only modification he did was to cut a section of the steel away on the subframe around the area where the steering column shaft enters the rack something to do with not enough clearance . other than that the rack bolted straight on. he used a 2.0 sierra pump and bracket and made his own pipes up.
