Hi all, Any recommendations for a good quality petrol pump for a 2L Pinto? I've normally bought parts from Burton but have heard on here that their quality is not the best. Many thanks, Pete

Not a bad watch on a Sunday evening. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pl7gqWd7lU

I remember going the other way with battery terminals when I was skint and found an old battery in the shed, I drilled holes through the round terminals on it to connect it up 😃 needs must when you need a car to get to work.

A new video from Tasty Classics, and it's a Cortina! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DIiYWRfYTCo

Hi, Thanks for the info, my carb is pretty worn out, even after a rebuild it hesitates and has flat spots. It's also weeping fuel around the bolt head which is underneath and between the fuel inlet and blocked off return. I'd also like version with the threaded in inlet, rather than the press fit version.

Hi all, I'm looking to source a new Weber 32/36 DGAV for my Pinto, is there a difference between part numbers WEB22680.872 and WEB22680.873? Can anyone recommend a good supplier once I know which model I need? Many thanks.

Possibly timing?

Has anyone been watching the Cortina stuff on this Youtube channel? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9aew__T3o8&t=401s

I contacted them yesterday, they said that Pre facelift MK3s are a bit trickier but can be done, No issues doing later MK3s /MK4s and MK5s. https://easysteer.co.uk/

Hi, I've bought one with a white band, should it thread straight into the block of does it need a smear of sealant or some ptfe tape on the thread first? I'm wondering if it needs to make electrical contact to work properly. Many thanks.

Hi, that's what I was hoping, at least I can rule out any problems in the rest of the circuit. I'm assuming that the sensor just acts as a thermistor between the gauge and ground?

Hi, is it possible to check the engine / coolant temp sensor by shorting the sensor wire to ground like can be done when checking the fuel sender? Many thanks.

A couple of shows that I've attended so far this year in the Cortina. Hayling island was a great place, right next to the beach! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GA_B-tpbFs8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LcwMWESdjvs

I sent the calipers off Tuesday afternoon and got them back Saturday morning! I just need to wait for the rain to stop and then I can get them back on the car :)

I did plan on having a mellow day today and popping to a car meet but as soon as I started driving, it was clear that all was not well with the Cortina. It was pulling slightly to the left when driving in a straight line and when I touched the brakes it shot off the right, pretty sketchy! I stopped and checked the wheels and the nearside wheel was pretty damn hot! Back home and off with wheels to find that the nearside caliper was stuck on. I've rebuilt calipers in the past with varying success so decided to send them both off to BiggRed as it's only £150 compared to me buying a seal kit and spending hours cleaning them up. They did a great job on my MK2 Astra calipers, fast service and really nice guys to deal with. Fingers crossed they'll be back on the car in a few weeks.

Well, it's been a while but I have eventually replaced the fuel line with Cupronickel! I had the wheels off today to sort out a brake problem and thought I'd get it done, not too tricky apart from dodging the rain.

Any tips for fitting the roof gutter trim on a MK3?
Lobby replied to Lobby's topic in Bodywork & Paint
Well, I was defeated by that! All three trims that I've got seem to be different shapes (especially the front few inches), probably due to them being removed in the past. I'm sure that they seem to be different sizes internally as well, are they different on vinyl roof cars? No matter what I tried I couldn't get the trim to even start at the front as the gutter and the trim have different radii and even ignoring that, the trim would not clip along the straight section above the doors. Even the slight curve down the rear is different to the shape of the trim. It looks like I'll stick to only one trim (on the drivers side), at least you can't see both sides of the car at the same time :) -

Thanks Craig . -
Hi, I've got hold of a gutter trim as my car has been missing one for quite a while, any useful tips about fitting it? Should I start at the front or the rear to ensure that it's even at both ends? Many thanks :)

What type / colour wheels are you going for? I've seen some cool combinations with blues of that shade :)

Popped out to a car show and had a cruise around in the sun today :)
