  1. Yes all connections are good on sender unit, not sure where other end goes yet so I can check that.
  2. Checked wiring this afternoon and earth wire from sender 1/4" terminal is taped together with gauge wire. Will have a look tomorrow and find out where it is earthed, guessing it may be behind dash somewhere unless someone is familiar with wiring and can help me out please?
  3. Think this is the one I swapped in..... just had a look in my messages and it was you who sent me it Craig back in July 2016. I believe it must be the correct one but just a bit puzzled why the incorrect reading...have taken wires of sender and earthed and gauge reads full so suspect faulty sender? https://s1372.photobucket.com/user/beverglenn/media/IMG_2997_zpsjjlbfxyo.jpg.html
  4. yes gauge goes to full when sender earthed out, gauge goes to about half when full with fuel and so does temp gauge when hot, electric fan comes on and off when should do (set at 90 deg c) and never lost any coolant yet. Could it be wrong type regulator or more likely faulty sender unit? This is the one I swapped in: https://s1372.photobucket.com/user/beverglenn/media/IMG_2997_zpsjjlbfxyo.jpg.html
  5. Sorry photo bucked not working properly
  6. Morning all, i have a 1971 mk3 4 door and my fuel gauge is faulty. During the resto I installed a new fuel tank sender unit but the gauge is still not reading correctly, it wasn't working correctly when I purchased her either. I have swapped the dash voltage regulator but still the same. Full tank and the gauge records about 1/4 full then slowly drops from there. I believe the voltage regulator serves the temp gauge as well but that works fine. Maybe I need to try another voltage regulator or if somebody has a fully working instrument cluster for sale??.....or could the new sender be faulty?? have included photo of cluster Many thanks
  7. There is a small amount of play at diff end which a rattle is slightly evident but this is like wow! what is that just fell off/broke
  8. The clutch seems to operate normally....is it possible for there to be excessive play causing clutch fork to vibrate then? the noise sounds like a chunk of metal rattling around in the bell housing..but as soon as it comes it can disappear again. :headscratch:
  9. No, it is mainly when I suddenly lift foot of accelerator or changing down through the gears when clutch pedal is released....so in effect when car is slowing and not under load
  10. Hi all My mk3 cortina has developed some rather loud and worrying rattles (apart from the usual and less worrying ones). They are there most of the time when going for a spin but can suddenly disappear. Pretty sure it is nothing externally and presume it may be coming from bell housing. The car drives fine and clutch/gear change is ok. Although something is obvious as a rattle can be heard when driving over lumps and bumps but the rattle happens mainly when foot is taken off accelerator and not when going up through the gears or braking. It is loud and seems something has come loose or fallen off, any ideas please? :headscratch: Thanks Glenn
  11. Hi there, yes I had another look and sussed it thinking that can't be right. I had a moment  Thanks for speedy reply
  12. now reassembled steering rack and not sure if steering rack housing pinion has located far enough into steering column flexible coupling? the photo shows first part of splines located, but does the splines exposed have to go up also. The located splines are only half the length of the exposed splines. The manual mentions a master spline that has to be in line? I figure it is ok as it is but would be very grateful if someone could check with their mk3 cortina. http://s1372.photobucket.com/user/beverglenn/media/IMG_20180530_103803_zpsozy3si6r.jpg.html Your speedy replies would be very much appreciated, cheers
  13. I had one made for my mk3 from a company off eBay, although he doesn't appear to be trading now there is another company on there who is. I was well pleased with mine..in Rosso Red. This is mine http://s1372.photobucket.com/user/beverglenn/media/IMG_20180523_172605_zpsmszsvc4p.jpg.html http://s1372.photobucket.com/user/beverglenn/media/20160807_145947_zps40gf8yx8.jpg.html And this is the link https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-CORTINA-MK3-MK4-MK5-NEW-CARPET-SET/153002149401?hash=item239fa38619:g:zDAAAOSwzE9a5cXh
  14. Thanks for that, have overhauled and replaced collapsed bush....is there any lubrication to go in holes like grease or oil? see pic Many thanks http://s1372.photobucket.com/user/beverglenn/media/thumb_IMG_20180523_084646_1024_zpsj75os99c.jpg.html
  15. Hi all, not been on here for a while and now encountered a problem with my mk3 Tina. A wheel wobble has been located to the steering rack on near side where the tracking arm enters, there is excessive play in the sleeve (or has something wore away to keep arm centralised?), is this a quick fix or is it a strip down to have rack overhauled . Please see photos...have slid gator back to expose joint, it is the sleeve end and not ball joint end. Your help is much appreciated thanks.
