  1. Hi everyone, been a while since I was on here. I have my '67 Mk2 Series1 painted now and I'm re-assembling it. Unfortunately, I took no notes of how things came apart. I have the opening type front quarter vent windows, and I need to know the points of attachment. 1. The bottom machine screw, inside the door (no pic needed for that, it's obvious) 2. The double rivets near the top that attach to the door frame. Are there any other points of attachment? Here are the top two holes for the rivets: Here is a hole that doesn't seem to be used, but there is a matching round hole in the door frame: And here is part of the door that the quarter vent frame rests on. No weatherstrip here, it just sits on it?
  2. Alright, let's keep the thread alive. I'm working on a Sunbeam Imp right now, then it's back to this.
  3. I got a few answers, but not a complete picture yet. I still need to know about the following: 1. Peripherals, such as radiator, alternator, other items that don't come with it but are needed 2. What transmission mates to this, and what parts are needed to accomplish that. In my dream build, I'd have a 5-speed. 2a. What modifications are needed to the tunnel and such with respect to the transmission? 3. What motor mounts are needed, and are modifications needed to mount the motor? 4. speedo? tach? sensors? What is used and how is it connected to the motor? Etc. I would want to collect pretty much everything before beginning, since downtime on a project keeps me up at night.
  4. thanks guys, I have an email in to retro ford with some questions.
  5. Shame I'd have to chop up the tunnel. what about motor mounts and engine bay work, anything needed there?
  6. Who's done a Duratec swap into their Mark 2? Mine's a Series 1 with the 1500 motor, if that matters. Just starting in on my research and if I commit, I like to collect as much as possible beforehand. I see it comes fully built with alternator, wiring harness and management box. What would someone do with these challenges (not in order obviously): 1. Radiator 2. Clutch/Flywheel 3. What transmission mates with this? 5-speed? What do options mean in terms of modifying the shifter hole and/or tunnel? 4. Transmission to driveshaft -- modified drive shaft? 5. Stronger rear end needed? 6. Engine mounts -- stock locations or? 7. Gauges -- speedo, tach, oil pressure -- how are these handled? What other custom cutting, welding or other extra work is there? Thanks guys, I did search but did not find a thread discussing these swaps in any detail.
  7. I think so. I bought bushes from all over the place.
  8. I'll check those bushes, I can't remember what I replaced them with, or if those were ok as is. thanks for the tip, between that and the steering box I think I'll have it sorted.
  9. Awesome, I will try those!
  10. Yes, I have the Pertronix fitted and it's a Series 1.
  11. ok, I'll check it out guys. I have not replaced the steering box. I do have a rebuild kit for it, but it seemed to be in good condition. I'm not sure about the rollbar nuts, I can't remember exactly how I put it back together.
  12. No, it's original.
  13. I've replaced just about everything in the front end, including the bearing strut tops. Putting my car into a gentle turn, the car wants to continue turning; it does not naturally return to center. happens left and right. Is something too tight, or is the steering box bad? Alignment seems to be ok, but maybe caster? Guidance welcome.
  14. What about the Burton Power crate motors? I know very pricey but easy and powerful. Any downsides? (besides the money)
  15. I'm in the USA, so I got the Pertronix kit, works GREAT. Along with an alternator conversion, the car just runs a lot better.
