A little while ago, i found 2 front Recaro seats that came out of a 4 door Taunus TC2/Cortina mk4. I bought the pair for only 50 euros. They have Taunus/Cortina runners welded under them. I first thought they originally came out of a Capri. But if i compare pictures from Capri's with Recaro's they look different. And as far as i know, Recaro's from the 70's for Ford always had fishnet headrests... Im starting to think they come from another car brand. I think it might be from a BMW E21 if i Google about old Recaro seats. There are no labels or anything to be found on this pair of seats. Cortina/Taunus runners are welded under them. But if you look at Recaro's for an E21, the knob for adjusting the back of the seat is different. The seats i have do have a Ford style turning knob. So i am a bit confused... What do you guys think?

Ok thanks. Going to put in a year... or 5 . All depends on time left from work to get things done on the Taunus..

A while ago i bought a distributor with the little black box for my Taunus. Not fitted yet because of other work on the car. But today is was looking at the set and i doubt if its a correct set. This distributor has a round plug with 3 wires. If my memory is correct, its 2 wires going to the black box. Is it possible i need the bigger Duraspark for this distributor? https://ibb.co/n86JYnLc

It happened again today! Only driven 1000km and the other gear is worn too. Probably the gear in the engine damaged, although it looked ok at first sight. :headscratch:

Wow, is that original? I have never seen one of those before.

A couple of weeks ago i was driving my MK5 with 2.0 pinto and was given it a good run, getting the revs up, you now, what a pinto likes. But suddenly it started backfiring and needed it towed home. After a while of working i found out that the timing was way out and felt some slack in the distributor. So took it out of the engine and this was what happened... Anyone had this happening before? The gear in the engine itself had no damage, which is a bit odd but good of course. Could it be just "metal fatigue" (if thats the correct words for it)? The distributor is stamped with '77 as date while the engine itself is form '83 so not the original one and no idea how many kilometers it has had in its life. I now have the electronic Sierra dizzy in it which is still fine after a couple of weeks, but still hoping it will not happen again...

Fuel return pipe on Mk5 - is it necessary?
Schaevertje replied to Danish's topic in Engine & Transmission
I always thought that it had to do with emissions. Because of vapors in the float chamber that are sucked by the engine. A return prevents that by letting a bit of fuel go back to the tank. But not 100% sure about it...
