O.K Fair comment  I agree with you, I am taking on everybodys few and coming up with answers of my own, weather they are right or wrong, being a fledgling and a bit wet behind the ears its a.... big big learning curve . what do you think of the kiddies stablizers idea

I want to keep it Pure Cortina or close to a xr6 as possible maybe with a stella rear end like bortaf has done (see post) or just keeping with the standard up grades. Fitting a IRS and cossie engine etc ...is not the way I want to go. TinTin.

hellbilly racing I appreciate your concern, but I`m not the type of person that rushes into things without weighing up all the options and then I can making the right decision for me ,I do know what a panard rod is and what its used for what I dont know is how it would effect the handling ,hence the question will it work? I leave that to you boffins :afro: ps will a couple of kiddies stabilzers welded to the body help

    Panhard Rod

So would you fit one to yours then duffy (spent about a hour reading up on your posts last night brilliant job... Top Banana) had a quick look under mine this morning would`nt the shocks be in the way, its a bit tight for space I,m not totolly convinced that the panhard rod will do the job having just two anchor points compared the four anchor points with the watts system I,m talking about serious fast cornering track days events as I what to build a race car but suitable for street use
  11. yer looks good I`ve emailed him for more pics especially on the rear axle.
  12. CF great mag ! subscribed for a few years then I must admit slowly got bored with the Pescort brigade ,but I do understand CFED, escorts sells mags and with out them no CF . So Steve pack your bags and take along hard earned break ! I hear South Africa good at this time of year oh while your there how about digging up something on the XR6 ..I know just a thougth. Retro Ford .Jury still out for me.. Pescorts again ,I give it a few more issuses then decide ,mind you CF started off with a escort mexico so things can only get better.
  13. Has anybody tried to fit a panhard rod to a mk5 ? how difficult is it? and is it worth doing?
  14. interesting ..so its not a matter of bolting a panhard rod to the euro set up then
  15. Big man hug for you ! I think we,re on the right track I remember reading something in classicford nov issuse page 126 about 3 different systems ,with the panhard rod,or watts linkage the 5 linking used one of these, but which one for the XR6?
  16. Yes I have heard of one about ,someone told me at SY last year that there was one at the show the year before I must have walk around with my eyes closed hope he turns up this year so I can take a look at this 5 bar link system. It being a TF really sound intersting.
  17. Thanks Anoraks and Addicks for your replys, but I just don`t get it ,what is a five bar link? all you have is two upper and two lower radius arms plus your shocks and springs, so where is the five links ? I`ve also got a copy all be it a bad photo copy from The MSA homologation forms of the cortina 3000 with a additional bit at the back on the xr6 package with a photo of the rear axle like I said its a poor photo and I can`t make it out ,have you got the same forms.
  18. Help ! Finding any information or photos of these rare beast (The South African XR6 Interceptor, and XOcet ) is like finding something you can`t find much of.... well you know what I mean, Anyway this is the only info I`ve got . The Ford Cortina XR6 Mark V ,which was only available in four door form, was powered by the 3.0litre.It was lauched in 1981,following the 3.0s Mark IV ,and was powered by a 140 hp Essex, coupled with a four speed gearbox .The rear suspension of this car was a unique five link setup instead of the more fragile trailing-arm system of the European Cort. This modification was to cope with South African road conditions. Mid- June 1982 brought about the birth of XR6 Interceptor. This was a real true blue Ford and has become a very sought after . This car included modified exhaust headers, camshaft, cylinder heads, high compression pistons,a3.08 diff and , most important, three 42 Webers .This combination became a legend on both race track and street.Only 250 of these were ever made. Between 1981 and 1984 variations of the XR6 included the XR6TF (Team Ford)which sported a white paint job with Ford blue striping and interceptor rims. A very limted edition was the Cortina X Ocet. The car was similar to the interceptor execpt for its fueled by a 450cfm Holley. So if anybody got photos etc .love to hear from you cheers! :)
