  1. Thanks guys, Your advice is spot on as usual, I have been able to speak to Tom at my local machine shop yesterday I thought they were closed for Christmas but apparently he was getting under his missus feet so came back to work, he has advised going to 83.5mm as the cheapest route. I had an idea that 85mm would be pushing the thickness of the walls of the barrels, Lotus (L) blocks are apparently thicker, I will have a look around for pistons over the festive period. The 116e block is from the first few months of production so that was partly the reason for hanging onto it if I could. Thanks again Bob.
  2. Afternoon Guys and Gals, I have a 116e 1500GT engine that is currently running Accralite 82.50mm pistons which is way passed standard of 80.970mm, number two has badly scored the bore and piston. What I need to know is how much more meat is there in the cylinders to safely bore it out assuming I can get larger pistons without having to sell a kidney. Burton Power apparently sell forged 83.50mm and even 85.00mm. What other options are there, can I get cylinder liners machined to fit to bring bore size back towards standard. Thanks for looking a Merry Christmas to all, Cheers Bob.
  3. Hi Darkknight, Thats the baby, how much do you want and can you find out a cost of shipping.............think it might be expensive. Cheers Bob.
  4. Hi and early one would be good its to go on a 116e block, Cheers Bob.
  5. So is the consensus that Pre crossflow engines and gearboxes were Dk Green, while Crossflow and later were black with Blue for Ford Reconditioned / replacement units. Thanks that's helpful. Cheers Bob
  6. Morning all I have a 116e engine with an Arden inlet manifold and Weber 36 DCD attached, I have done a bit of research on the net and cant find much about Arden Racing and Sports Cars Ltd of Tanworth-in-Arden,Solihull other than they seemed to have specialised in Mini/BMC add on tuning bits and pieces, I have been able to find a sales brochure from 1965 which lists this manifold and carburettor combo for the 105e,109e,113e and 116e all for the princely sum of £26.10. I was wondering if anyone has this manifold on their car or knows anything about the company and its links with Fords as they appear to have been best known for tuning other makes. Cheers Bob
  7. Morning all, I am wanting a MK1 1500GT head if someone has one laid under a bench in the garage, please root it out and give me a shout Cheers Bob.
