Not sure really?? If liability is proven then my excess is refunded and it will be classed as a non fault claim so premium will not change. Claiming against the council is a difficult task - weight of insurers behind you gives better odds so a better route to go, albeit risky.

Well, it was like this. I was out one day and went over a pothole, it snapped my front spring and I assume buckled the rear shaft. I rang the council, they took the details and advised I submit a claim. nNothing ventured, nothing gained. I call my insurance and reported it “Peter Best” who told me to get a quote. JD quoted £1896 for the complete works. It was agreed and they paid out minus my excess £325

Yes - Last word was the car is all back together. It does drive, just a wobble at the rear squeaky noises. They have offered to drop my car home but I’d rather go get it and have a word with this geezer Ash. It turns out, the work was under quoted by a previous employee who has left. Because of this they are not making money. My complaint, I fear was an easy excuse to get rid to stop more costs so they’ve gone for it. Their mistake at my expense!! Live and learn 🤬

Haven’t got another axel - JD Classic did buy one but they were had over. Geeza so called Terry Cash took the money and ran.

Because mine is a SA Import 3.0 it isn’t a standard size?? I really don’t know why it’s such a problem. Blimey, it’s a Ford Cortina not a 1940’ Silver Ghost. If I can’t get it fixed I’ll have to scrap it for parts 😩

Hi All, This is a bit long winded but please bear with me. some May have seen this already on the MK3 owners site. So we visited this garage last year on a ride out on the clubs weekend at Battlesbridge. A heads up - I have had issues with my rear axel and couldn’t find anyone to help. Upon our visit and speaking with a guy call Ash, this garage said the issues I have were no problem, in their words “This is what we do, if we can’t find it we will mill or make it” I was thrilled and took my car back a few weeks later “July” to get a quote for the work as it was going through my insurance. I explained I’d been to other garages without any luck, they assured we I was in good hands. The £2000 quote was agreed and I was paid out “I have the money” Anyway, the garage purchased a 2nd axel which turned out to be a con and they lost £600? I’ve tried to help get their money back but they will not give me any details?? Since dropping my car, I have contacted them on numerous occasions for update on my car which have mostly been ignored. I was told I needed a manual choke as my twin Webber was running odd?? You guys on here said it just needed a service, I told them, stood my ground and they eventually agreed. Anyway after Christmas the chap dealing with my car left the business and didn’t advise anyone on the works for my car. It was only due to my calling them I found out nothing was being done to fix my car. I had another visit in January to discuss my car with a new chap. I left them with a clear understanding of what I needed done. I have called every week for update with no answers. Last week I went mad - sent Ash a message saying it wasn’t good enough, I’m being ignored, had my car nearly 9 months, unprofessional and unacceptable. He came back with okay, if that’s how you feel come and take your car away?? Help please - how can I respond to that? Insurance have paid out yet nothing has been done to repair it?? Was I out of order, did I do something wrong here?? Only wanted updates on progress!! Thanks, Tony
