  1. No sorry, don't know this one.
  2. I have changed my tyres to 165/65/13 as they rubbed the lip on the front wings when fitted to 6J minilites on my car. Anyone out there want to make me an offer over £50 - they have hardly been anywhere? Good Year Eagle 175/70/13
  3. No I think you would need a very highly paid lawyer to fight that one - I can see that being an expensive fight along the lines of YOU actually owning the rights to the reg number NOT DVLA. Doubt its worth it. If I was you I would say "fair enough but as a gesture of goodwill what about a few free models?" Have you seen the models???? I think I'll pass and settle on the doubling of the car's value as suggested - sounds good to me.
  4. This raises an interesting point regarding permissions though - Oxford make a tiny 1:76 replica of my Police car (GBP 1C) and their view is that Ford own the marque, the DVLA own the plate and therefore the owner doesn't get a say in it. Corgi also do a version in 1:43 scale. Does anyone know the legal position?
  5. I had this problem with my Mk2 Escort 1600 when new in 1978 - Ford fitted an 'anti-dieseling' kit to prevent it but it never worked properly and it would chuff away for about half a minute before finally coming to a halt. Best way was to just leave it in gear and dump the clutch every time I wanted to park it.
  6. Hi Steve Re your car for sale. Sorry for the late e-mail request. I found out about the sale of your Lotus Cortina MK2 forum from the post Keith Halstead posted on the LCR forum of which I am also a member. I live up in Sheffield South Yorkshire and am trying to get down to view the car tomorrow Sunday 6th. Would it be possible for you to e-mail me ASAP the address and any rough directions on how to get there? Also would it be possible for you to send me any Pictures that you said you were taking of the car once you got it moved from the garage where it was with the Granada, in case I don’t manage to get to view in time Sunday then I can make an offer on reflection of the pictures and any feedback from LCR members that do manage to get to view the car. You can either reply to this e-mail or send me a PM on the LCR forum. I await your reply. Finally, do you have a cut off date and time for offers after Andy verifies the car? Craig - here are the location details :- You can call me on my mobile 07990 569563 if you get lost and need further directions. Regards Steve Many thanks and regards Craig
  7. I hope you are joking - Google "Burton Performance"......... :winner:
  8. Steve - your inbox is full - Where are the pics - I can't see them on the forum? Please supply an address or phone no as my mate Pete Gedling lives in North Weald and he can view the car for me. Regards - Keith
  9. See page 73 of Graham Robson's "The Sporting Fords (Cortinas)" for a photo of this car. It was a Ford Press car used for promotional purposes when new. I have added the post to the LCR Forum for interested parties.
  10. yes, it´s two way only (on/off), not like the one from light or heater! HMM THINK I HAVE ALREADY HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR SOMEONE ELSE all our switches with 3 lugs have three positions and ALL THE TWO POSITION SWITCHES ONLY HAVE 2 lugs on the back! yes, i think they are hard to find. i fitted a 2 lug (Deluxe/Super)one at the moment and left the heater solenoid free. of course i could feed the wire from different source, but i always fancy originality. i haven´t found it listed in the Mk1 OC magazine as well, maybe i ll find one at the YAT. another way would be to take the bottom of the broken and the top from a 2 lug one, i think i´ll have a try if i can´t find one! Part No EL15 - £2.35 each from the Mk1 OC. An ordinary 2 way switch will work but the wipers will not park when switched off.
  11. These are the 8 inch variety - if anyone has the right car and can use them they can have them free. Email me at keith@khalstead.co.uk to arrange collection as I can't be bothered to post.
  12. The Mk1 Cortina Owners Club stocks these.
  13. Thanx Keith, have you a number for him? Try this one :- 01509 264550.
  14. Earlier this year Dale Stevenson (Cortina Spares Unlimited) was having some remade - you might want to ask him the status of his project.
  15. I quite like that Meguiars - it's expensive but easy to use and great gloss.
  16. i take it at 7 J width they still clear the arches..... not actually sure what 7J refers to.. :) keith Here's a useful reference site to explain about wheel sizes etc: Wheel bible
  17. It could be fuel vapourisation - as I have seen this before with the pre-crossflow as the carb sits on top of the exhaust & when you stop moving it gets overheated under there. No end of cranking will start it until it cools enough.
  18. The early (1970) 3000E had these fitted as standard as I recall.
  19. I think thats more to do with time and patiance straightening and polishing than buying new , like Keith said new ones will cost BIG money Hugh Wade in Colchester does take off the anodising, tap out the dents and highly polish them for about £100+ - 01206 870668
  20. I think these are the ones used on the later Mk2 Lotus from Dunlop
