  1. 3rd version of the gearbox crossmember , hopefully the final incarnation. It needed to be higher, to get the gearbox up a bit moreπŸ™„
  2. Engine and gearbox is in. Just working out the gearbox position, to get the engine close ,but not too close to the bulkhead. I've had 3 revisions on the gearbox crossmember, but think I've got it right this time. Now looking at the engine mounts. Maybe some pictures tomorrow 😬
  3. Thanks for the kind offer, but I think they are probably different, perhaps someone will let us know. Cheers Johnny
  4. I had the morning in the barn today, and managed a bit more πŸ˜€ I started making up the gearbox crossmember, as I'm doing an engine a box dry fit. I only had enough material to fab up one side, need to get some more next week, bit of a ass really , as I wanted to complete it 😬
  5. Yes, the clutch cylinder is 5/8 The brake master is 7/8
  6. Getting lots of bubbles is normal with this type of bleeding system. It doesn't mean you still have air in the system. What's happening is the bleeder is drawing air past the bleed nipple threads, as it sucks the brake fluid though. I normally draw out 1/2 a cup full of fluid per corner, and that's about a litre overall, that will do it. Make sure the system doesn't run dry, but you have spotted that already. A couple of pumps on the pedal when you have finished bleeding , and all topped up , and nipples tight. Should be good to go. If you still cant get a good pedal make sure your brakes are adjusted up accurately, or if new brakes they can be spongy until bedded in.
  7. A land rover series 3, but it wasn't an easy just job.πŸ™„
  8. I managed a bit more time today, and started the LHD to RHD conversation today, also converting to duel circuit brakes. I'm looking for a RHD behind dash wiring loom, and a RHD throttle pedal,if anyone has them for sale.
  9. Hi all, I'm looking for a RHD behind dash wiring loom, for my MK1 1965 Cortina. Anyone got one for sale please. Thanks Johnny
  10. Its got 1 degree neg camber without the engine weight , so I'm expecting a bit more with the engine in place , and will need adjusting back the 1 degree neg. Crossmember is a bolt in on original pick up points . Yes super heater valve is going , for a compact one .
  11. If you look on eBay at a suspect scammer car, go to the sellers "see other items" If its a scammer they usually have lots of other cars listed also. Personally I have bought 3 cars from the USA, and one from Australia, all via eBay, all paid for sight unseen with a bank transfer. Do your homework ,research the seller, ask the questions, get more pictures. If your not 100% happy with anything, or you feel something is not quite right, don't buy.
  12. Its ok as long as the stud PCD is correct, this age car doesn't use hub centric wheels, so doesn't rely on the centre hole for location.
  13. Hi all, Has anyone got a RHD dash under tray for sale. I need one for my project. Picture shows a LHD one. Thanks. Johnny
  14. It was a made to order one, from Danst Engineering. Yes nicely made, but did need fettling to get it to fit correctly.
  15. Well the fairies did help, I managed to get them apart, I just wasn't oinking them hard enough 😜
  16. Next job is to clear out the engine bay ready for the engine test fit. At the moment it's left and right hand drive πŸ˜πŸ€”
  17. Got the engine and box back together, so I can do a test fit now.
  18. Yes, exactly, I went in there for a 28/36 inlet manifold and Jeff Howe exhaust manifold for my 997cca Anglia. The Lady , I think Jeff Howes Wife, got the "jet recipe book " out and gave me the jets I needed to re jet the weber. We did a before and after dyno run at the college where I was a trainee mechanic, I can't remember the results now but it was something like a 30% power increase. Point is the jetting was spot on !
  19. Personally I'd keep it standard auto, but if you were determined to convert it, do it in a way that it can be put back to auto easy and undetectable, and keep all the old auto bits safe together. It looks a nice car, so I would be mindful of wiping some value when it moves on.
  20. Yep all on the original pick up points. Not sure about tweaking a 24mm bar. I haven't attempted yet. Did you move the top mounts to compensate for moving the crossmember back, to keep the caster ?
  21. Twin choke Weber, but not a direct replacement unfortunately
