    mk2 coil

Do yourself a favour - buy the sports version - not expensive and works better with electronic kits :) http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-53481-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5574629005&toolid=10001&campid=5335900709&customid=&mpre=http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lucas-DLB110-Ballast-12-Volt-Sports-Ignition-Coil-Fits-Classics-Cars-/321091489294?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4ac28b4e0e
  4. Awesome looking Lotus Mk1 , loved seeing it at Brands , felt like we had Jimmy there in spirit :winner:
  5. Some here on my FB if you're into that https://www.facebook.com/raarcher/media_set?set=a.10151374684033249.501665.599173248&type=3
  6. I have more pictures..as RRC was the same colour as mine UUV 414F I took a few of them together , give me time I will scan and post. I do miss those heady days of nearly 100 Mk2's annual gathering and owners from all over this country drinking  late into the night , somehow trophies didn't really matter , it was all about the craic
  7. Most of us will have a problem in a few years from now , I have a Sony CD/FM radio but use a custom made Radiomobile fascia cover when it's parked up on show but it's all change in a few years time - we'll have the digital changeover so whatever you do needs to be done with this in mind , I suppose I'll be looking for a new one that fits my old cover :headscratch: http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/motoring/car-radio-go-digital but not for a few years yet  http://www.theguardian.com/media/2013/dec/16/digital-radio-switchover-2020-ed-vaizey
  8. I spoke to the guy who let them use his Black Cherry S1 for the rainy outdoor shot , they wanted to take the windscreen out for that scene :shocking: and he wasn't best pleased when he came back to find a coffee mug on the roof , film makers are no car lovers , it's just a business to them.
  9. Two "end of an era" appearances in this film - the late great Roger Lloyd Pack (Trigger in only Fools and Horses) and the now retired Bob Hoskins as well as Ray Winstone's daughter Jaime , and a commanding performance by Miranda Richardson , it certainly doesn't pull any punches on the employment practices of the time by Ford Motor Company :shocking: Very fitting to have ex Dagenham songstress Sandie Shaw on the soundtrack :)
  10. You can remove the screens on older cars with a very basic technique with no damage to the rubbers (wouldn't try it on modern cars with bonded type screens) , two of you push from the inside with your feet - carefully and with clean footwear to avoid scratching , as I said carefully you will feel the give in the rubber , just judder it until it releases pushing at the top corners of the screen not the middle , I believe it was another forum member who taught me this way back in the 80s
  11. Simple question - are they still obtainable ? is the 1600E/Mk2 Lotus spec different ?
  12. Fitted and happy - they are just right :) , it's nice to have good steering back as well , now I understand why "cutdowns" are frowned on - uneven pressure on the top cup and basically when you cut something out you weaken the load spec - good to be back on track :winner:
  13. After trying to work out the spec from the application list I decided the best course of action was to visit with a standard 1600E spring as a comparison then go from there , good job I did as my 1600E spring was a bit shorter than what he thought it should be , I also took with me the section I cut off the existing springs on the car to achieve the lowering I wanted , in the end I settled on the "2 inch lower" 170lb as a compromise , it stands to reason if you go a bit lower you need to go a bit harder sprung :showoff: :headscratch: Now to fit them and see , maybe a coat of brown paint or even powder coated for the "look" before installation
  14. Following on from previous threads like this (all very useful) http://www.buysellcortina.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/29018-mk2-front-shock-absorber-strut-inserts/page__st__60 I am currently using standard springs that I cut down one and a half coils due to the nose up effect of using series 2 struts that run higher , I really need to fit some proper springs that seat properly , this guy is selling lots of types on e-bay 1 and 2 inch lower which I can work out from what I have cut off. http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-53481-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5574629005&toolid=10001&campid=5335900709&customid=&mpre=http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cortina-MK1-Mk2-1600e-Gt-Lotus-190lb-1-Lowered-Springs/140897748852?_trksid=p2047675.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D11%26meid%3D1380868622680106378%26pid%3D100011%26prg%3D1005%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D5%26sd%3D140897750029%26 The question is which poundage ? Standard is 140lb , options seem to be 170lb and 190lb , is it a question of the lower the harder you should go ? :headscratch:
  15. There is a couple of mm difference - series two is slightly longer , I must get round to fitting the proper one in over the winter :headscratch:
