  1. Thanks so much, will look into it. :winner:
  2. Hello I would like to know if there is a more robust alternative to the plastic steering rack bushing fitted to MKIV and MKV Cortinas. Thats the bushing at the end of the left side of the rack. I've changed it once before but with the road conditions we have in Trinidad, it doesn't seem to last too long. Thanks much! Russie
  3. I experienced a similar squeeking and clanking when my propshaft U joints went bad also. Mine is the 3 joint version with the center bearing.
  4. Quite a few though not as many as there were a few years ago. Many MKV's still exist, fewer MKIII's and IV's, you can occasionally catch a glimpse of a MKI or II. Some guys fix them up really well and there have even been efforts to start a local Ford club.
  5. Good idea you have there. You should be able to check if the secondary main jet is working by manually opening the secondary throttle valve at the carb itself while the engine is idling. If its getting gas, the engine should rev when you open it about a half of the way. You might also want to verify that the carb actually has the jetting recommended in the manual, the configuration may have been altered to create a mixture a little too rich for the 1.6. Flushing the main jet channel and emulsion tube with a carburettor cleaning solvent is a good idea while you're at it. Just a couple of ideas
  6. Hello Being a new member to the forum, I would like to get to know it before signing up for another however, I think the more Cortina sites there are the better, good luck with your site!
