I think i might of sourced a wing, but still not quite sure as of this moment.

Hopefully have a go on the shallow scratches this weekend. The deep ones are to deep.

Yes i think heat build up could be one of the the problems. I will have another go, on one of the weekends. It can only go one of three ways. 1, Not work 2, Work or partially work 3, More scratches or just a pile of glass. Lol.

That's why i'm being very cautious with this. Normally new things don't bother me, but this is a bit of a worry.

Thank you for looking. I will pull the rack apart and measure the internal and external dimensions of the shim washers. I will post the information here when i find time to do i it.

I tried some 800 grit by hand at the weekend and that never touched the glass. I do have a DA sander that i use on car paint but i'm a bit dubious about using it on glass. I might give it ago at the weekend if the weather is good. They are scratched bad and got paint in them from a respray, some time on its past life.

It's the shim internal and external dimensions that i need so i can buy some and fit. I will just have to pull it apart again and measure them. I forgot to measure them when it was apart before.. I was hoping someone had the dimensions. I'm very forgetful.

Does any one know the size of the pinion shims on a early mk3 steering rack. Its the aluminium pinion housing version. I serviced the rack and stupidly forgot to measure the shims. I need to add some shims to reduce some movement. I'm hoping that some one as measured them before, if not then i will just have to remove again to measure and then order some.

Does anyone know if the Mk3 pickup door glass is the same as the 2 door saloon? Mine is very scratched and needs replacing or possibly polishing.
