Has anyone got an Umbrella type Handbrake to work with Sierra Rear Discs/Calipers ? I have made a bracket with a pulley wheel to give it a straight pull but there there is no leverage with this type of Handbrake in its standard form.

Hi All, I'm sorry if this has been covered before. I have what I believe are standard 1500 front struts and I want to upgrade the Brakes. It seems like vented discs and larger calipers are only available for 1500 GT and Lotus. Is there anything that I could adapt to fit my current struts (4 pot calipers larger discs etc) or is there an alternative strut that I could use, as it seems like the GT/Lotus ones are rarer than rocking horse Sh*t . I'm also looking at converting the rear drums to Discs and I see that there is a kit available. Has anyone fitted one? What are they Like? Thanks in advance Ray

I'm Keeping the original steering box for now, I'm not sure about the Escort Rack and Sierra Column, but it will be the same principle. I've loaded the pictures on Cortina Chat

Dont suppose you could add some pictures? I Guess Capri 2.8 set up is gonna be hard to find these days

Anyone have more information on this?

Thanks for your Reply That sounds like a plan! What Engine does it have, as mine is fitted with a 3.0L Essex. Are the track rods inline? As Yours got Capri Struts too? I'm concerned about bump steer. I remember fitting a Fiat 128 Rack to a Mk2 many years ago and it wasn't perfect Cheers, Ray

Yes, that's right they all seem to use a secondhand Corsa unit, but charge lots of money to fit it. I would like to know if anyone has done it themselves and what universal joints they used.I did see somewhere that someone has done this

Hi All, Im new on here. can anyone help /advise I read somewhere that an electric power steering motor from an early Vauxhall Corsa can be adapted to fit a Mk1 Cortina. Does anyone have any drawings/measurements' or know which universal joints to use? I am able to fabricate and weld where necessary. The car has an original steering box and a 3.0 litre essex Engine. I already have the Corsa unit. Thanks in advance Ray
