Have found pic before spraying how close can you cut ( in mm to the weld line ) if it comes to cutting is it best to use hacksaw or grind fractions away with diamond disc - don’t want to get hot as May lift raptor paint will have to get more to touch up real pain in butt I have removed paint and weld line on problem side is 10 mm on the straight but 15 mm on the bend would you say l am safe to grind away 4-5 mm on the bend

Photo 1 is old original tank which seems to have a cut would you say this tank is original from 1982 Ford production line photo 2 is new tank made in Taiwan with wide seam by filler tube photo 3 Can l cut on mask line outside edge ?? photo 4 is this cut line a no no on outside edge — photo 3&4 with masking tape is the problem edge

  6. bought a brand new fuel tank from a popular and safe seller on ebay for my mk 5 cortina but now after trying to fit finding the flange on the filler pipe side is to wide to go under the rear side panel can this be cut down if so will it break any welding seams ( flange is about 40mm original tank is only 25mm ) when i say flange i mean the seam where bottom and top are joined has anyone had the same problem would appreciate any comment ( seller is selling tanks as advertised for mk 3-4 & 5 )

  8. Managed to find a supplier for viton seal but can you tell me what was thickness of one you made
  9. i see you advised Alan L on his problem with his fuel sender seal i have a similar problem as i am replacing my fuel tank and upgrading my fuel line for ethanol resistant line could you advise me on is it importantence to fit a V seal or can it be a solid rubber one -- have been trying to find a viton seal but can't find to date or are the original seals ok don't want to fit something like nitrile if somewhere down the line it's going to break up/ leak ( mk 5 1982 cortina )
