    Mk2 Cortina's
  1. Anyone tried that "Vanish" stuff they advertise on the TV? Say's it works wonders.
  2. Standard 1300 & 1600 one's are £46 a pair from the "E" Club. You need to be a Member though. That price is exclusive of P+P. (or join and buy at Billing, week on Sunday) Give John Chapman a call on 01375 670268 evenings, NOT AT THE WEEKEND though, please.
  3. The one thing I like about the Mk2 is that they have a habbit of letting you know when something aint right. Don't know what it is, but a certain noise or a differant feel to the handling and you just know the car is telling you something. Maybe it's the same on the Mk1, not having owned one I can't say, but from what you say it's telling you "Hey! sort me out in a proper way, and fast, or I'm gona snap in two and dump your asre on the road". As "H" says, "It's a disaster just waiting to happen", just don't be in it when it does.
  4. i already had them....used the cans for repair sections..... :winner: Mmmmm!! An Aluminium bodied Estate...... Now there's a thought.
  5. Flook me.... And I thought I had problems with lack of space in my garage.
  6. They don't get me all of a quiver Graham, to be honest. They might look good on, dare I say......... an Escort.
  7. The Master Cylinder aint off a Mk2. The end of the push-rod is wrong and the fixing lugs would point North to South not East to West.
  8. Be a bit difficult doing the spokes while they is spinning around.
  9. Had my Dunlops done a few years back by the Company I now drive for. (They have a polishing shop for Stainless Steel) If I remember correctly, the mop needs to be spinning at over 3000rpm for a propper job, an ordinary drill won't reach that speed. The wheels are as good today as they were when first done.
  10. "open the boot to unbolt the top of the rear seatback and force my way in?" Thats about the only cost free way left open to you. It's possible to get your arm in and undo the back door.
  11. Looking at the back wing, something also with wings, has plainly given it's opinion. :) :juggle: But as they say...... Each to there own.
  12. I bought 3 pairs from OZ last year. Had them shipped to 3 different adresses with a gap between posting dates, so as not to attract attention of C & E. Two sets got by ok, but the third was nobbled for duty and when that was added to the cost of that pair, it worked out at about £150. The TCA's were very resonable as far as price was concerned at about £85.00 per pair, the postage + insurance was very high due to the weight (about a third more). Even then, overall still fairly cheap compared with Nick Newfords prices at the time, but the C + E Duty took the shine of the 3rd pair. In conclusion, I'd say go for it and buy them from OZ or NZ, and keep your fingers crossed about C + E Duty.
  13. If he means like I think TCAs then yep £200 for a pair - unfortunately postage from NZ isnt cheap. OR the Customs duty if they nobble you for it.
  14. John Chapman, "E" Club Spares, already refurbs originals with a Stainless Insert, but I doubt they look as pretty as Tims.
