Haha never heard 'kackfit' before Corkscrewing the exhaust was fairly easy to be honest. The bit that took most of the time was removal of the old pipe from the mid section. It took a fair bit of heat, angle grinding, swearing and whacking to get it off. Another issue was the poor fit of the replacement, it was a few inches too short at the front straight section, causing it to knock slightly to a chassis rail. I fixed that with a heat proof rubber ring to cushion it.

Thanks to all for the tips! I'm guessing separating the old section at the flange is going to be tough. What's the best way to deal with that?

Hi all Whilst test driving the Cortina after bleeding the brakes today, the exhaust rear section broke (due to age) 😖, so I'm going to have to source a new one. Are the exhausts for the pinto engined mk 3 and mk 5 interchangeable? I can see exhausts for those available online but no mk4s. Cheers Jim

I've replaced the scrapers now, it was surprisingly straightforward to do. The only problem I had was that the old scrapers were very brittle and had a metal insert that in each one was badly corroded. Once removed, the new scrapers plopped in nicely 🙂

Hi everyone I've ordered some window scrapers to replace the brittle cracked ones on my mk 4. Any tips for fitting them, e.g. does the window glass need to cone out? On a related note, having examined the inside of one of the doors, it looks like the clear plastic sheeting that sits under the door cards is ripped & shredded. Is replacement of this just a case getting some heavy duty plastic sheet and sticking it on? Thank you in advance for any help! Cheers Jim

Hi all For a autumn/winter project, I thought I'd start the process of sorting out the ragged vinyl roof. Think I'm leaning towards removal & just painting it. I'm planning to do as much of the prep as possible, and then get it painted properly. The main problem I have at the moment is I can't figure out for the life of me how the plastic grills on the C pillar detach. Does anyone know? Cheers J

Hi all Hope you're all enjoying the good weather and getting your Cortinas outside! Bit of a dumb question, how are the wings joined to the valance? Is it just some kind of sealant? Am asking because the join between the valance and the wings is a bit scrappy on my mk 4 and I want to tidy it up a bit. Cheers Jim

Hi all I've just done a heatbox refurb on my mk4, so hopefully will get some heat in the cabin, not that I need it right with this lovely weather . I have some new replacement foam gaskets for the underneath of the box, but do they also need any kind of paste sealant, or do the gaskets fit dry? Also, does the back need any kind of seal, foam or paste sealant? Looks like door draught excluder foam tape would probably do it, but I'm curious as to what is recommended? Cheers Jim
