Hi, ive mentioned this before but the mk5 motor differs slightly from mk3/4 in that the short spindle on the motor withe the round push fit end is larger on the mk5 and it's on a spline not a set angle. Question is my motor has been apart and I've not got the self park in the right spot so it's setting off going down the screen before across. Does anybody have a photograph of where the spindle sits in relation to the rest of the linkages under the scuttle. Cheers Shorty

Hi, ive just had the painted and the garage has managed to loose the two front door bottom seals firstly are they necessary and if so can you still get them or as anybody got a pair? Many thanks "Shorty"

The motor looks very similar to mk3/4 but the casing is fastened different and the small shaft on the end is splined with a nut on mk3/4 have a shaped slot and a smaller ball on the end.

Unfortunately I can't supply a picture as I've had to refit the motor. The short spindle on mine has a spline whereas the older motor will only fit one way. I can't find any mot history for my car on DVLA not even an MOT in 1985 which makes me wonder if the car has arrived from abroad and if so are there variations in motor styles. Mine has a different outer casing than every one I've seen 2nd hand?

Hi, i recently purchased a second hand motor from a mk3/4 to fit to my mk5. However I've now found that the motors are different in that a mk5 has a spline on the drive and a larger knuckle where it pushes into the linkage. Is there a solution or has anybody got a mk5 motor they are physically different to look at. Cheers "Shorty"

Right, so my fillet is about 14/15mm did ford fit a smaller one in mk3? my corners may be off a mk3 also if I get some 11mm wide( Escort mk1) will the corners fit over that ad it's narrower? I think the corners I've got may have come off a mk3 cortina but not sure as they measure about 8mm
