  1. You remember correctly. That's what I was thinking, can't remember that I had one on the 1600 X-flow in a Mk1 Escort I had before.
  2. Is it possible to buy a new oil return pipe for a pre X-flow anywhere? Or is it even necessary to have one? The oil should end up in the sump anyway.
  3. If I have understood things correctly the GT cam should be marked 116E, not 109E. And the A2 should be the next step up from the GT cam (116E).
  4. Yes, I have to buy a new cam. The cam that was in the block was a standard 109E so I think the block came from a standard 1500 and the head a GT. I am curious about the A2 but don't know, some say it's to much for a standard engine and others say that it's a fairly mild cam.
  5. Hello, new member from Sweden here. I am rebuilding a 1500 pre X-flow for my '65 Cortina to replace the tired 1200 in it. Only a road car, no track use. Engine specs will be the following: Fully balanced rotating assembly. Standard bore and stroke. GT head, mildly cleaned up intake ports, skimmed 0.025"/0.65mm. Standard GT valves, 36/32mm. GT exhaust manifold. Twin choke Weber. Is it best to use the standard GT cam or should I go for something else like the classic A2, Kent BCF1 or 2 or maybe the Newman PH2?
