is there many mk4 2.0 s left on the road
78 Crayford replied to gazdon's topic in Ford Cortina Discussion
We sold a white 2.0s to a guy in Ireland about 7 years ago :) and I've got my 2.0 sl Crayford :D -
The appliance wheels may still be in the lock-up with the cars ! not sure TBH. We currently have about 12 cars and god knows how many sets of wheels, as my son's are changing wheels on their cars every couple of months ! Not had a chance to look for pics yet but I will do my best over the weekend :)

ooh, the mk5 2.3 sounds nice :) Have a safe journey :) I know what you mean about too many cars ! lol ! we've got cars everywhere ! as well as motorbikes and caravans !! Mostly mine I have to say  (not the bikes !) My son's like their Fords too but are into the newer ones ;) I had a Mondeo ST 24 for a couple of years, which was a lot of fun - my lads liked that ;) At the moment we have too many cars and not enough time to do anything with any of them ! Look forward to seeing any pics of the mk4 when you get time to scan them :) I'll see what pics I can find of mine over the weekend :)

Hello Greg, I was devastated when he sold it to a dealer after agreeing to sell it tome :( I could have understood if I had messed him about or been unreliable - but I hadnt - and as most people who know me in the Cortina world will verify, I dont mess about, if I say I will buy something I do. It took me a while but I got there in the end :D I would love to see any old photos you have of the mk4 :) Are you going to buy back your old one ? I never seem to have that problem as I tend to buy them and forget to sell them  Over the past couple of years I've been good and not bought any more - only because we've got too many and no more room !! ;)
-
They looked good but were a bit too wide for me. I replaced them with Ghia alloys, which I had powder coated white  Maybe not everyone's 'cup of tea' but I liked them

Hello Flower - good to see you are still about :D Was hoping to see you and catch up at Symmonds Yat, but sadly didnt - either I was hungover or you didnt show up ;) I'm fine thanks hun x Same old - as always ;) How's you and yours ?? x I LOVE this pic of the mk4 on your truck  Seems like yesterday !!

No worries Tony :) I'm amazed that you remembered the crayfords even belonged to us !!

is Phil the chap from Leicester way who owned the car for many years ? when he was selling it, I phoned him and said I would buy it (unseen) and would be down to pick it up on the Tuesday. Phoned him on the Monday evening to confirm address details and his wife said he had sold it to somebody else :( I spent about another year looking for that car !!! lol (sad or what !) Did Phil have a board with all the car info on ? I was told he had at the time but that had gone astray before I bought it. The car was sold to a dealer and about 2 days later was being advertised for sale for about 4 times what Phil had sold it for ! a few months later a guy who used to use this forum bought it but didnt really use it, then he lost his license because of ill health, and sold the car to me :) the one and only Bortaf delivered it for me !! I used it for a couple of years, then life got in the way and it went into storage and has been there ever since ! it's certainly a head turner and gets lots of attention at shows :)
-
Hello Greg :) It's been dry stored for about 7 years and I dont think I've even looked at it in all that time ! I guess it will need a lot of work by now though :( TBH I've not been that interested for the past few years nor have we had the time to do anything with any of the cars. I only came on here tonight as a friend of mine mentioned you were asking about it and I was curious (being a woman !!!) as to why ! lol ! What do you plan to do with the info/photos when you compile them all ?? I think (if memory serves me right) that I'm the 3rd owner and have the original bill of sale from Quicks. I think the only photos I've got are the ones 83gls posted. We're at a show this weekend, but will try to get to the lockup the weekend after and have a look at both the mk4 and mk5 and see what condition they are in :) I'll prob be phoning the scrap man next Monday !! I'll let you know.

No, UOP 785S It's a white 2.0 SL :) I've owned it for about 12 years :) I will post some pics when I can get onto house pc ;)
-
lol ! we actually have 4 convertibles : a mk1, 2, 4 and 5 as well a few other cortina's ;) I'm on my laptop at the moment but will dig out some photos of them and post up when I'm on the house pc :) oh, and for anyone who remembers me from ages ago - YES, I DO still have my MG roadster too !!
-
Hello Greg, I heard someone was looking for info about my car when I was at the mk1 nats at the weekend. Yes, as 83gls mentioned, the mk 5 carbodies convertible (TBA 600X) belongs to me :) It's been laid up for a couple of years awaiting enthusiasm to return ! along with my mk 4 crayford convertible  Lin :)

He is retired now but he used to be a panel beater/sprayer in the 60's & 70's. His trade is really sheet metal worker, so he's really talented when it comes to sorting out problems or producing parts from nothing. 94652[/snapback] :D I bet he is really enjoying doing it. You are lucky to have such a talented dad
