  1. So does the body go in the roof box?? :jester:
  2. Err.... Did I say 'No plans to do a carbodies version'....... I've been working on the interior. Once I get that right (it isn't yet!), I'll need a good way to show it so a convertible seemed a good idea.
  3. Splendid!! Perfect for my use. Thanks a bunch!
  4. Thanks for that, Mike. It'll do if all else fails, but what I really need is a close up of the material, avoiding the stitching etc. and as straight on as possible. Don't worry about the seat itself, I only need to get the Chatsworth pattern. Your help is appreciated.
  5. Hey guys, After a bit of a break, I have started doing a bit more on my Mk5 model. Everything so far has been done by eye using reference pictures. I have owned loads of Mk5's and memory and Google images has got me this far, but I'm struggling to find a few things - I NEED YOUR HELP!! Can't find any good reference images for the GL seats so if somebody with a GL would oblige, I would very much appreciate. Door cards would help too. Also, I would like a good image of Chatsworth Ghia seat material - I need a fairly square on image with enough for me to create a big piece with the correct pattern repeat. Any help would be fab. Thx Latest render below:
  6. Day #12 - Ok, so I've done almost nothing since I went back to work: Still in shock, I guess. Anyhow, need some help..... 2x Questions, 1x Request for info: Q1 - I shortened the distance the front indicator unit wraps-around into the wing. Is the wrap-around length Ok now? and did I get the angle of the back edge of the indicator unit correct or is it all kinds of wrong? - Something is bugging me, but I can't decide what it is. Q2 - I have been playing about with metalic paint (I think all my previous pics have been solid colours so far). Does this look to be a far representation of Caspian Blue or is it too light/dark? Req1 - The way I have my door/A-post set-up, the front edge of the door skin hits the A-post. I totally guessed the pivot point for the door. If anyone could do me a few pictures of A Mk5 door open from a few angles (camera angles NOT door angles!) (especially where the front edge of the skin meets the wing or a wing-off pic) would be appreciated - Thx.
  7. Spot on, Pete! It's a real shame, but unfortunately I'm sure you're right that some of the people on forums like this and on the Facebook groups etc. are only there to find out where the cars are that they want to nick. I have always been careful when posting pictures near home; I even obscured road names and sign posts to try to throw them off the scent. Was never worried about people photographing at shows. I also had 'Cortinashire' as my location. You cant be too careful! Damn shame as majority of folks are decent and honest and I've met some great people and had some really good times with fellow enthusiasts who I only met through forums like this. I guess meeting up at events like a national rally or Cortina day is a good way to find out who is genuine.... Be careful out there, guys!!
  8. Not done any work to improve the model in the last two days, but I did make a 360 degree video moving the camera around the model..... It's made from 2000 seperate 1920x1080 shots of the model from different angles. Each pic takes my computer about 36 seconds to ray trace (calculate all the light bounces etc.), so took 20hrs in total and my PC is pretty hot :shocking::shocking:.
  9. Well, I've been busy getting drunk rather than updating the Mk5 model as it's new year, but I have done a little bit..... Day #9 - Added upper bulkhead, inner wings, drip rails, slam panel & front legs, extending under the floor pans into the main chassis rails. All are very basic for now and require additional detailing and shaping.
  10. Oof! That's nice. Well, needs a bit of a dust down 👌👌👌
  11. I did know that 😂😂 no need to explain.
  12. Here's the working view referred to, above. It has mk4 tail lamps, but long bumper ends. The indicators (front) look Mk4 style so I guessed my position for those on my Mk5 model. Maybe my roof height is totally wrong too. :headscratch: Anyway, as long as it's good enough to fool most, it'll be good enough for me. I'm sure us Cortinaholics could find fault in any 3D model of our fave motor.
  13. Yeah, you're probably right! It was the front face not lined up with the wing - made worse when I re shaped the wing and left the indicator alone - that I corrected. The length of the wrap-around has already been shortened once, but may need another look. Most of the work is done by eye, but I also have 'blueprints' that I can superimpose over front/side/top-down view. Side image looks to be Mk4 to me, although the bumper end caps wrap all the way round (export model??). Anyhow, it means I have a bit of guesswork on certain bits. By the way (all), constructive criticism is welcome and encouraged - form an orderly queue!!
  14. Cheers, Jim! No plans for a carbodies version at present, but a 2dr is definitely on the cards, which might well be based on a car very familiar to you....
  15. Day #8 - Finally sorted my problems with the opening doors - doors now open/close and window frames stay in correct place so I can pose the doors anywhere when I take an image of the model. Reshaped front indicator - been bugging me, much happier now. Added driving lamps - happy with those. Added door mirrors - look a bit silly for now, will need improving, but it's a start. Added stainless trim to tops of doors and roof gutter trim - all need fettling. I've also done loads of work at the back: added back panel and started to try and tie valence/quarters/boot/backpanel together. Lots more work need before the back looks as nice as the front. Back end looks like it's been bangered..... for now. Work in progress. Early days. Oh, and happy new year everyone!!
