Looks like nice solid project that. There's a complete set of Mk5 estate seats on evilbay at the moment, still at 99p:- http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/282550423326 Don't worry about bits like the lights etc, plenty of second hand ones available as cheap as chips.

I've got a good set of black Mk4 GL door cards - pretty sure I have the handles as well but will need to dig around in the loft tomorrow to check. Whereabouts are you?

I was surprised that yours didn't sell more easily - I guess the market for Mk5s is a bit difficult to call. With hindsight I probably sold my 2 door too cheaply but got to leave something for the next man/woman... Anyway, I'm not into Cortinas for the money and I've had a huge amount of enjoyment out of the Crusader over the past three years - the profit is just a nice bonus!

Sold this evening to a local guy. He was driving past and stopped to chat to me last summer when I was cleaning it on the drive - anyway he spotted it on eBay today, remembered where I lived, called in on the off chance and a deal was done! I must admit I've been a bit surprised at the lack of interest - not a single enquiry on my eBay advert and yet there's another 1.6 Crusader on there with dubious paint and rust issues (looking at the MOT history) that's had nearly 40bids and is already at over £3.5k, so asking £4.5k for a minter didn't seem that far off the mark? Anyway, all's well that ends well and on to bigger and better things with the Mk4 estate!

Is anyone on here heading from the London area to Norfolk any time soon? I've got a pair of kick panels and a boot card but need to find a way of getting them to Gary.

I think I mentioned a few months ago that I might have to sell one of my two remaining Cortinas. Unfortunately, that time has now come. I'm much better health-wise but still not working full time and I need to cut some costs and raise a bit of cash. It's been a real dilemma trying to decide which car to sell. The Crusader is the perfect reliable cruiser that needs nothing other than regular maintenance and the Mk4 estate needs a bit of work to get it to the same state; but I hate to leave a job unfinished and I bought the Mk4 to be the car that I'd keep forever, so it's the Crusader that has to go. Some of you already know the car and I'll follow up with some photo posts in a moment but in summary (I'll avoid the temptation for "Doctor"-style spiel):- - Supplied new by Tom Mellor Ford, Rochdale on 5 November 1982 to a Mrs Doreen Evans of Marland - I still have the original invoice and log book, dealer keyring etc. and the car still has the original dealer plates. - Mrs Evans gave up driving in 1991 and the car was laid up in her garage with about 41k miles on the clock. - Her son recommissioned it in 2011, got it back on the road and then persuaded his mother to sell it in early 2012. Apparently a local engineer bought it , put a few hundred miles on the clock, bought an Escort and sold the Cortina to a dealer in Wales who had the car resprayed as the paintwork had become dull. - The previous owner then bought it in Feb 2013 and then sold it to me in 2014 - so I'm the 4th keeper. Other than the respray in 2012, the car has never had any bodywork that I'm aware of. It's rot free and has never been welded. It's had a few subtle modifications:- - 5 speed type-9 box - Twin choke Weber carb and manifold (I fitted a brand new carb and Ford airbox last year) - Ford 4 branch manifold - Accuspark ignition - Uprated front brakes, braided hoses, 2.8 Capri master cylinder - Polybushed all round - Genuine Ford mudflaps - Ford P42 FM/LW/MW/SW radio with aux-in socket - Satin black S-style rear panel (not to everyone's taste but it's grown on me) Mechanically, it's spot on. Pretty much every service item has been renewed - brakes, clutch, cam belt, rad, water pump, valve stem seals, track rod ends etc. Original unrestored sports steel wheels and new Continental tyres fitted last year. I've also fitted new genuine Ford halogen headlamps and new genuine rear clusters as the originals had faded a bit. I've just done a full service (nice EFL90 oil filter!) and changed the steering rack gaiters as one of them had split. MOT passed today (no advisories) to 5 June 2018. The interior is absolutely mint. The only non-original fitment is the rear belts (Securon inertia reels plus a lap belt). What else can I say? The car is a joy to drive - it's a 100% reliable, quiet and surprisingly quick and efficient cruiser. I've put several thousand miles on the clock, including a couple of trips to Europe, and it's never let me down. The mileage tipped over 50,000 last week. I guess that just leaves the price. I'm looking for £4,750 - I know that's strong money for a Mk5 but there aren't many others out there in this sort of condition - various spares and service items included. Thanks guys. I've never had a problem with fuel going off, wonder if the lead replacement additive (I normally use Castrol Valvemaster) has a stabilising effect?

Happiness is... having a Cortina back on the drive again! I'm ashamed to say that neither of the Cortinas had turned a wheel in over four months until the weekend - but they both fired up first time and I had the energy to give the Crusader a bit of a fettle and get it back on the road.

I must admit that I was a bit sad that your lovely 3-door wasn't going to stay original but the balance of Cortina karma is definitely restored with this!
