    1600e Forsale

ms/m578/1600ecortina/100_0219.jpg[/img]/albums/m578/1600ecortina/100_0218.jpg[/img] Regretably it has come time to sell our 1969 1600e mk2 series2 Ford cortina. In the four years we have owned the car we have enjoyed Updating Maintaining and Driving it. It is taxed until September 2011 (free tax) and mot ed until October 2011 ( in the time we have own it,it has passed all it's mot's with no advisorys). The good bits are :- Alternator Braided brake hoses Electronic ignition Stainless steel exhaust and manifold (has a good engine note) Alloy rocker cover Coil over rear shocks Unleaded cylinder head K&N air filter Battery in boot 175 tyres ( fitted about 1500 miles ago) Rosytle wheels New head lining New carpet Poly bushed suspension Some history mot's tax disc's and bills You have had the good bits so there has to be some bad bits :- Sun roof ( handy in the hot weather and is in keeping with the car) Paint work (has mirco blistering to most of the car,But can only be seen close up, and polishes up well to a good shine). The colour is Abergine with black interior. The seats head lining carpets and wood cappings are all in good condition. The body work and chassis are in good condition with no rust that I can see. The engine gearbox brakes and suspension are all in good condition with no undue noises or problems, the engine starts 1st time and pulls well. (oil pressure is 40 psi) The switches gauges lights and wipers all work as they should. The milometer reads 9800 miles (But for a car of 42 years old I do not beleive this is true) As I said at the top of the page we have enjoyed this car and it has never let us down and is ready to go on to the next chapter in it's life. I am open to any serious offers. I have tried to be as honest as I can and welcome any inspection. Please contact me if you have any questions or would like some more pictures.
  6. Hi all. Can any of you help me, I am about to start cleaning my engine bay and thinking about painting the engine aswell, what colour should a 1969 1600e be, and what is the best paint to use.

  8. Hi all Iam having trouble with my 1600E (1600 Kent engine) it carries on running after it has been swiched off when I go for a run. I had it tuned on a rolling road last year. I seem to remeber that Escort's back in the 1980's used have a valve fitted to the engine to stop this happening, can you still get these valves and if so from where can you buy them. would this help me or is there any other way to stop this happening. I hope you can help with this as it is a bit of a pain in the ar--.
  9. :winner: Thanks for that it is looking like i will be buying 175/70 tyres, the size i have on thereat the moment is 165 /80
  10. Hi All  I bet this question has been asked loads of times before, I have a 1600E with rostyle wheels and the tyres are in need of replacement,I have 165/80/13" on there at the moment and am thinking of going for something a bit bigger. I was thinking along the lines of 175/70 or 185/70 what would you all recomend,as per road holding and steering (low and high speed).

  13. Help. Is there anyone inside my laptop that can help me with my non starting 1600E. When I try to start it it sounds and turns over as if it has a flat battery and does not fire. I have had the battery tested and confrimed that is o.k I have replaced the starter motor with a reconditioned one I have tried the starter out of the car on the floor and it works o.k I have tried pushing the button in between the two terminals on the solenoid and this has the same affect (just about turning over) The only thing that i have not replaced or checked is the soleniod I am open to any ideas on this and hope between us we will be able to get my car going again.

Polished 4 Branch stainless manifold £250. (these are a work of art and desrve to be hung on a wall in your home) or non polished for £200. when you say club do you mean the 1600e owners club, and is the exhaust freeflowing, thanks for you help.
