  1. With January being its usual cr*ppy self, I figured time to play indoors, and finish something I started aaaaages ago. Internal door handles... I always thought chain-link steering wheels looked cool AF, but assumed they'd be horrid to actually use. So thought I would pinch the concept for something else. They will be painted black and silver, but need to gclean off all the annoying spatter first.
  2. Brill, thanks. I figured it had to be the case, but wanted a 2nd opinion. Ta!
  3. Hi. So the Sierra arms and cortina rod ends arrived. They all attach to each other, and give the same overall length as the cortina rack I removed rfom the car, so that all appears good. However, a follow-up question if I may. A google search suggests a 55lb-ish torque setting for attaching the rod to the rack. But the shape of it prevents use of a torque wrench. Is it a case of heaving it tight, and using some loc-tite for good measure? Also each end of the rack has a small notch (a.k.a. wee hole) at the end of the internally-threaded section. Is that so it can be peened over (if that's the right terminology) to act as a locking measure? I had a squint at the Haynes, but it was its usual vague self. Thanks
  4. Thanks Craig. I have ordered the above, and will confirm either way once it all arrives.
  5. Hello, merry Chrismas, and happy new year. I am sure I have seen this on this site but cannot now find. I have adapted my crossmember to take the Sierra rack, so now I need to order the track rods and TREs, as the rack came with neither. From memory I think I need Sierra rods, and Cortina TREs. Can anyone confirm? Many thanks p.s. in case this is of use to anyone. Mk3 granada/ugly Scorpio racks are the same width (28") as Sierra, and use longer track rods to allow for the fact that the cars are wider. BUT the alloy Granny rack I ordered is quite a bit chunkier so would have required more chopping of the Cortina cradle. I opted to order a steel-bodied Sierra rack instead, which is a bit less "fat". It was also cheaper, luckily.
  6. Brill, thanks. I will bear this in mind if mine turns out to be no good. It's plenty scabby-looking, but may still be functional. Thanks
  7. Starting to resemble a car again. I hope to finish welding underneath this weekend then I can paint under there, and drop it back down.
  8. F***ing EVERYTHING waa rusty on this car, but the end of the welding is in sight
  9. .torpedo tubes fitted, and valance finished. Ignore the awful paint job, it's just to protect while I am working on the car. I will worry about prettying it up later
  10. Oh man, that car looks just so RIGHT!!! Very cool. Do you run it in a particular event/class? Or is it for random track days? Thanks very much for the info, I will go with the standard servo then. Assuming it works, cis it would be nice to not have to replace something for a change. V interesting re the rear disc conversion. I have just invested in new drums, shoes, and slaves, so will stick with that but will bear it in mind for the future.
  11. I imagine to checked/would have noticed but I had some shoes delaminate because the slave cylinder turned itself in to a brake fluid dispenser
  12. Hola all So my mk4 started life as a 1.6 Pinto, but is getting a 2.8 cologne and 4-pot calipers. The servo it came with looks a bit diddy. Did the v6 cortinas come with a bigger servo? And will e.g. an XR4i or v6 Granny servo mate up to the pedal OK? Or is Cortina unique? Thanks all
  13. Ignore, just found these here on page 3 Unless anyone has any more? Thanks
  14. Hiya, apologies for resurrecting an old thread but as it's directly discussing... The front crossmember is currently off the car, so is a good time to see about adapting it to fit the sierra PAS rack. Are there pics of anyone's experiments/experiences with this? It fits (just!) but space is tight so I would love to benefit from the wisdom of others, rather than find out the hard way that I have stuffed up. I did have a search but no joy. Thanks p.s. my car is LHD so the photo isn't flipped
