1. Thanks. But when adding a heavier engine (such as exchanging a pinto for a cologne) it is a good idea to uprate the servo if you are a lazy-. like me? Has anyone fitted an XR4i servo to a mk3 'tina? If so, is it relatively simple, or is there a better 2.8 servo to use?
2. Personally, I think they do, more down to more swept area of pad than anything else, You have to also bear in mind, the braking effort is useless if you dont have traction at the tires, as soon as you start to skid, most of the braking effort is lost, if you dont have the mechanical grip on the road surface, and can lock up your fronts with standard brakes, you have to ask is it worth the hassle., Presumably, then, combining 4-pots with wider tires of a good quality (to increase the area of rubber on tarmac) will all aid better braking. I want to put a v6 in to what was a 4-cylinder car. Is changing to a V6 brake servo a must?
3. Do 4-pots (princess or other) make a big difference over 2-pots?
4. Can anyone tell me if the cologne v6 2.3 and 2.8 distributors are interchangeable? If so, if there any advantage to using one as opposed to the other?
5. I can't find it! Can you post or PM me a link? Thanks
6. hi disco...... dreams come true......... as they did for me..... i also spent lots of time looking for a clean 2door mk3.... i found that i was very temped by 4doors cars all the time..... tho stuck to my guns and hung on till the car came along......if its a clean car be very ready to pay for it tho.... 163775 That's a nice car! To be honest, I was thinking of just getting a 4-door, but I reckon I'll hang on now, and keep collecting the bits I need (I want a 2.8 v6 mk3 - I've got the engine, now I just need everything else!).
7. I'm looking to buy a mk3 'tina in a few weeks, as soon as the space becomes available on the drive. What I really want is an early 2 door (I like the 3-clock dash). I've been keeping an eye on the classifieds/Ebay, and have only seen 4-doors for sale. Am I being a dreamer, or do 2-doors still come up for sale?
8. Doh! I could have got a pair for free. Oh well. Many thanks for the info.
9. A long shot, but any chance that mk2 granada cologne mounts are the same as V6 cortinas? Or are they completely different? Also, was the crossmember/subframe on the V6 'tinas any stronger (to cope with the extra weight) than the 4-pot versions? Or did they use the same bits? Thanks
10. Can I ask what engine you've got fitted, and what rating springs and shocks you've used? Cheers
11. Did you get your adjustable shocks from Rally Design too?# Cheers
12. Did you call Rally Design re the uprated springs? I just had a look on the website and could see nothing for Mk3s. Thanks
13. no bronze bush but you will have to put a spigot bearing in the end of the crank :) 160766 Is the spigot bearing on the crank the only thing that needs changing when converting from auto to manual boxes on a 2.8? Thanks
