Hiya Is the bolt that goes in to the floor (to retain the socket piece) the same size as the 2 lateral bolts that hold the actual belt? And is that thread size 7/16" UNF? I am resolving more bodgery - the previous keeper had both of the sockets fixed down with a 10mm bolt, presumably because the original thread had stripped/rusted. Thanks

Thanks again - side glass successfully removed (i.e. I didn;t break it!). Glad I did too. It's had all the glass out in the past for a (terrible) repaint, but they didn't do anything about the rust holes under the rubbers, other than slap paint on top...
-
Great, thanks. I'll have another go tomorrow lunchtime. I got the rear screen out today, but that was easy 'cos I just chopped the knackered rubber. However, the side window rubber looks pretty mint.

Hi II looked in the Haynes book and it doesn;t even seem to mention this?!! Can anyone advise how the side glass in a mk4 2-door is removed? They are non-opening (not sure if that was even an option on cortinas). I need to repair a rust patch on the b pillar and don;t want to damage the glass or melt the rubber. Does the external rubber (weather strip?) pull off? Or should the glass come out with it? I have done a similar job on a capri, and the quarterlight was masticed in, but that may have been a previous owner's doing, rather than factory. Thanks

Now sorted for the boot and doors seals. Has anyone fitted the screen seals from Burtons? If so, any good? Thanks
-
Thanks for the tip

Thanks for that - it never occurred to me to consider non-tina door seals - doh! And I am as tight as they come! Re the rear screen - any particular supplier you have used successfully? If you do have a boot rubber, please let me know how much. Thanks again
-
As per the title, I need seals for the doors (it's a 2-door) and the boot. Any recommendations for where to buy? Anywhere to avoid? Same for the rear screen. I will need to remove it to weld a hole, and the existing rubber is hard as iron. Thanks!

Hiya, I know there's a VIN decoder, but is there anywhere that lists/decodes mk4 and Mk5 parts numbers? Thanks
-
D*mn, I had a set of mk2 capri bumpers but sold them. Gah! Will keep you posted!
-
Has anyone pics of this, or advice why it's a terrible idea? I am way off fitting bumpers, but the ones that came with mine are pretty bent, and I am by no means a purist, so was wondering... Thanks
-
Thanks. Yes, 9".
-
Picked it up this morning, hooray!!! Needs new shoes, drums, and (probably) slave cyl's, but it's otherwise complete. Now I just need to finish another 30-40 hours of welding, and I can start putting all the mechanicals together.

Thanks for confirming re the arms. My existing ones are - as far as I am aware - mk4, not mk3. Current prop was for a 1.6 4-speed, so won't fit as-is. I need to yank the box (engine is already gone), so I will pull the prop at the same time and see if it can be re-purposed. I Googled the number on the box, and it's from an '84 Capri, so should be manual drive, and the seller gave me 2 levers, which was nice of him! He and his wife were actually both lovely, and we had a right old chat (he's a Scimitar nut). Yeah, I knew that the box x-member was an issue, I was going to get everything in there, and then figure out how to fab one, or re-purpose whatever I can pinch out of my Dad's garage (ssssshhhhhhh!!). Thanks for your help

Hey kids, I think I have finally got a line on an Atlas for my mk4. I have not actually taken possession, but touch wood... Anywho, one of the lower arms is apparently rotted where the spring sits. Can I use the arms from my Koln axle? I.e. are the arms the same for either axle? Also - I will be using an Atlas axle, 2.8 V6, and type 9 5-speed. Which propshhaft do I need for that combo, please? Many thanks
-
Thanks for the heads-up. I have a Koln on the car, and will be initially running with that if I can't find an Atlas first.
-
I'd want a lifetime's servicing for that price... I did see that one on there, but that price is just daft.
-
Thanks - I was hoping you knew of a stash somewhere!
-
Hiya Can I ask where you found the Atlas? I have been on the hunt for one for weeks! Thanks
-
Thank you.
-
I do note that this is from 2012(!!), but do you still have a V6 wiring loom? Thanks
-
Brill, thanks again.
-
Hi, follow-up question please. Is the inner valance supposed to attach to the spare wheel well? Or is that a modification made by my Romanian nemesis? Thanks
-
Brill, thanks. That makes life simpler
-
Howdy y'all. Having repaired the boot floor, I am nearly ready to cut off and replace the inner valance. I am making my own inner, as they don't seem readily available. My question is - is this bulge in the middle supposed to touch against the outer valance? Or is there supposed to be a gap between them? The old outer valance was so dented it was hard to tell what was intended by Ford, and what had been the result of touch-parking. Thanks
