Hi, follow-up question please. Is the inner valance supposed to attach to the spare wheel well? Or is that a modification made by my Romanian nemesis? Thanks
-
Brill, thanks. That makes life simpler

Howdy y'all. Having repaired the boot floor, I am nearly ready to cut off and replace the inner valance. I am making my own inner, as they don't seem readily available. My question is - is this bulge in the middle supposed to touch against the outer valance? Or is there supposed to be a gap between them? The old outer valance was so dented it was hard to tell what was intended by Ford, and what had been the result of touch-parking. Thanks

BUMP... Anyone out there got an Atlas for sale? With any diff ratio? Thanks
-
Thanks all. I think for the time being I will do as per Craig and have both pipes exit via a widened valance notch. I really like the idea of centralising the tank, but it needs too much welding already, so will revisit this down the line. Thanks again for all the input.

Brill, thanks. This should widen the search quite a bit!

Hi Given the similarity of floor pans, I am guessing the front seat runners are the same for mk3/4/5. I am having trouble tracking some down. Are these the same for any other Fords>? From memory, Sierra and mk3 Granada were very similar, and could be adapted by drilling a hole or 2 in the frames. Thanks

Consul 315 thanks for sharing that. Looks like it was made to go there! I just dropped my tank and was pleasantly surprised to not find any holes, so I will try to retain it for the time being (this car is already costing too much in new parts!) but the above will be v useful if I hit any snags with it.

Brill, thanks. I just dropped my tank to work on the boot floor, so now is the perfect time to sort the seal. Thanks -
WARNING E10 & SENDER UNIT SEALS

Hi Where did you get the material from to make your own please? Thanks -
What is this, underneath the spare wheel well?
disco_monkey79 replied to disco_monkey79's topic in Bodywork & Paint
Thanks for clarifying - ignoring that weird bit is fine by me! Ta -
Thanks for the reply. Do you mean so both pipes exit in the centre, rather than on either side? If you could get a piccy when you are able, that would be ace. No rush as I am still welding - I had just got to thinking about it as I dropped the tank today to work on the boot floor. Thanks

Hiya I have had a few v6s over the years, but never one with twin exhausts. I had intended to twin exhaust my mk4 as part of the 2.8 conversion, but I hadn't realised that cortinas have an offset fuel tank (unlike mk2/3 v6 Capris where the tank is centralised and the exhausts run on the outside of the leaf springs). Had anyone fitted twin pipes to a mk3-4-5? And if so, can you share details? BTW I mean running a separate pipe from each manifold, rather than having a splitter pipe towards the rear of the car. I guess I could relocate the fuel tank to the boot like a MK1 Capri but would prefer to avoid this as I want to lpg it down the line. Thanks

Hiya, can anyone tell me what this but is meant to be / look like? The wheel well on mine is mostly OK but the bottom is waferrrrrrr theeeeeen, so I will need to cut it and make a new bottom. I will need to source/fabricate whatever the heck this bit is, so knowing what it's there for will help! Thanks

Mk3 / mk4 headlamp surrounds. Same? Different?
disco_monkey79 replied to disco_monkey79's topic in Bodywork & Paint
Doh! Only been able to find mk3 ones online. Thanks -
Hi The hoop of steel that goes around the front headlights are rotted away. I have seen mk3 ones advertised for sale. How close or different are these to mk4? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/266263750289?hash=item3dfe8e6691:g:NoAAAOSwv7xj4ldB&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA8HFNXxLizN65lohKPhN2mvjAKBpHVps5uVyD8TN15TczvA3TM0bdP0snazvIYm9YxQbMlzLVguRlenWcL9I5Fj7Vz8ysVJP%2FiYOedCK5RFocphFpe43HRUkJ2ishviy7wRlXAzvo1XEFFLsTsCalAEp6FL4qtKXAG4R6SQhYj1MAX9vHxmWzr7%2B4%2B6eD%2Bdwts%2BIuse8DG4zbrXi9xQ1L6vkm3jtom%2BL%2BxLWA%2F%2FxBwqTgD3jGZ3XV9wF1PTdjNs%2BoFGEHF%2B2a1UIknK5zsTUsmbKNIALteSdtVxRHpr4cQsyl7yTpQxatEsSbYqUV1p%2F%2BSA%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR9aFpoyUYg I could attempt to make something, but zapping in bought panels is soooooooo much quicker! Thanks p.s. I did check the compatability list, but couldn't see a direct reference to this. Thanks

V6 coil spring ID
disco_monkey79 replied to disco_monkey79's topic in Suspension, Steering, & Brakes
Brill, thanks both. I will ask the seller for some measurements. -
Hiya I have been offered some low mileage coil springs that the seller believes are from a 2.3 mk4/5, but isn;t 100% sure. Is there some measurement that can be applied to determine if they are for a v6 or 4 cyl? The thickness of the material, for example? I imagine measuring the length is of no help, witht he varieties of lowered springs out there in the world. Thanks

Eyyyyyy, glad to see you back! Hope all is well! -
Thanks, I hadn't considered vinyl. Hmmm...

Not sure if this should sit in mods, but anyone ever sourced chrome ones?

Not sure if this should sit in mods, but anyone ever sourced chrome ones? Or found a satisfactory chrome treatment for plastic? If they were flat, I would try making some from billet aluminum, but the gentle curve puts me off
-
Glad you said that - I was in two minds about bothering fitting one on mine
-
Looks ace! LOVE the colour, and turbovec-style wheels are my joint favourite (I have some on my truck). I have committed to painting my car black, but this orange is sorely tempting...
