Floor in... Now to repair and refit the cross brace P. S. My welding may not be pretty, but... I needed to raise up the far corner of the new footwell to meet the trans tunnel. Easy, I thought, just stick the trolley jack under it. Except it just lifted the car by my new panel. So I don't think it's going anywhere...

I picked up some replacement doors. Anyone know if this awesome orange was a Ford colour, or a custom job? They have been very well painted (unlike my car). Apologies for the messy garden. The inner wing, sills and a-pillar are done on that side, and the floor will be finished this afternoon. Then I need to turn it round and start on the other side...

Hiya, my mk4 has a cable-adjust door mirror that I need to take apart. Can't find anything online, so can you advise - is it possible to disconnect the cables from the joystick, and from the back of the glass? And if so, how? Thanks! P.S. I can post piccies if there are more than one kind
-
Yeah, looks in better nick than my imported mk4. Shame about the paperwork status, as it means there's a very good chance this will end up getting broken broken, which would be a real shame.

Not too wide - Escort tarmac arch-ish. I hadn't considered tubbing, but I am keen on 70s-style mods, so flared arches are actually a plus in my book! Once the floor is welded, I'll jack it up and stick the new wheels (slotmags, natch!) on, and see exactly how much is needed. I had intended the floor as this weekend's task, but the weather seems to have other ideas...

lockquote widget Brilliant, thanks for confirming. Yesterday I ground off the 3/8" (no joke!) of filler that caked the arch and "blended" it in to the now-removed body kit, so I can see what I am dealing with.

Koln and atlas are the same width? I had read somewhere that koln was a wee bit narrower. But if that is incorrect then I can indeed crack on...

Mk4/mk5 inner wing to headlight surround query

Great, thanks. They hadn't got around to hacking the rad panel (yet), so that's one of the few parts I don't need to repair of replace... Thanks for your help -
Yeah, I am going to have to adapt something, or band regular arches as suggested by Sheffieldcortinacentre. However, I am still on the hunt for an atlas axle, so I can fit the wheels and see how much I need to come out by, so this job is currently down the list a ways...
-
Hi As per the title, I am after a 2.0 axle. Anyone got one available? Thanks p.s. I would prefer a 2.0 but would consider a 2.3. Thanks

Don't know if you do FB, but there is someone advertising a Borg Warner for sale on Marketplace. I hope yours is repairable, but just in case (a) it IS a Borg Warner, and (b) it does need replacing... I have no involvement in the sale, I just happened to see it advertised. Ta. -
I very much appreciate the offer of the loan. Unfortunately I am nowhere near you! I will ive brush and roller a go, and if no good, I will look to get a similar compressor/spray gun. I have bought a large gazebo to use as a paint booth.
-
Thanks - sorry, only just seen your reply. There's a pretty good facebook group I have joined. Yes, I had a go at the underside of the bonnet with un-warmed paint and a brush, and it's not disastrous, but it's not good enough for external panels. I will be taking your advice above for my next attempt...

Hi I bought a v6 type 9,which the seller said he stopped using as the bearings had got worn. So, I need to rebuild it. I see kits on offer for £250-£300, whicb seems a little steep. Is this the going rate? And are they one-size-fits-all, ie the same kit contentd for all the 4-cyl and v6 variants of the type 9? I have seen a kit for sale in Germany but don't want to order it if it won't fit my box. Thanks
-
Thanks - easy once you know how! And Ford even colour-coded them for me...
-
Thanks for that. I'll see how it goes just masking off, but will look it up if that doesn't work out well. Cheers
-
Righto, thanks. I was thinking the odds of me removing them without damage seemed small. I shall mask up. Try not to laugh, but I am going to try brush painting the car with coach enamel, so overspray won't be an issue.
-
Hi The new doors I sourced have the chrome facing on the metalwork that surrounds the glass (if that made sense at all). Is this removeable? I need to paint the doors. Or is it better left alone and just masked off? The car is currently red and is going to be black, whereas the doors are bright orange (a very cool colour0, but I don't think I can get away with not painting them... Thanks
-
Thanks for letting me know. All the best
-
OK, so... that didn't work so well*. But I TRIED, dammit!! *whispers* I tried... Do you have a non-wobbly hinge? And if so, how much posted, please? Thanks! *it made ZERO difference

How does one undo the bit fat wiring plugs that go through the bulkhead, behind the instrument cluster? I need to weld just above ane below where they enter, and I really REALLY don't want to melt the wiring loom... Thanks
-
Hiya, thanks for that. It's the near side. I will have a go at tightening with a blow torch and vise as there isn't much play, but will let you know if it's a fail!
