Sorry to see this thread Frankie I've got a few panels in red over silver paint work if you are struggling bud Can't you get it done in a Bodyshop using your fully comprehensive insurance and agreed valuation?

Blimey a lucky escape there Frankie. Good work by your lad too. Havent got a bonnet but have alot of parts like wings and doors etc most of them painted red over silver from use on JFE. They're not too bad and certainly would be a good stop gap for your car while you source mint examples if thats the direction you're going in. Sounds like the car did her job and stayed strong for you when you needed her too. Stay safe fella.

I know this car. It was the first Cortina I ever rode in and that was on my first day at work on 20th July 1982. This was the Accountants company car at Quicks for Ford in Ashton under Lyne from new. They sold it and he got a 2.0GL Capri with German sports gear box.

Really impressive progress there Jayney. I cant believe that this car was rebuilt already within the 3 years that you've had him. JFE had a full gearbox refurb including paint as she was leaking gear oil as well as a new clutch, pressure plate, bearing, cable and being a mk5 a new ratchet on the clutch pedal. Much tighter gear change now. Like the towing eye idea. Great work keep the pics coming. :thumbup:

Its all happened before. Roughly every two years or so. Cortina's are in Mikey boys blood. He can't walk away simply can't. Thats how the lad is.

My first car was a four door mk1 Escort in roman bronze Loved it. Crashed it and blew the engine up. Put a reconditioned 1100cc in it. Happy carefree days That looks lovely

Don't know if this helps as mine was a mk5 Mikey boy. But there were three badly rusted and knackered bolts at the drivers door end bolting to the A pillar. One in the middle one at the top and one at the bottom.
