  1. Subsidies are a big part of it Neil. Just think what it takes just to sustain life. You are putting in more than you are getting out. I'm no expert or scientist or mathematician but the maths has been done and the information is out there. It's madness to carry on as we are!
  2. Local meat? It's all local to someone and the feed is shipped around the world. Grain-fed beef have to consume approximately 7 pounds of grain to produce 1-pound of live-weight beef, and consequently is one of the most inefficient converters of grain. A range of 1,800 to 5,000 gallons of water are required to produce just 1 pound of beef, compared to the 257 gallons needed to produce the same amount of soybeans (an inexpensive source of versatile plant protein).
  3. Electric cars are cleaner but have a massive carbon footprint from the sourcing of raw materials and the manufacturing process so they're not guilt free in my opinion. Much better for the environment to keep using our older cars. The big push to go electric will speed up global warming. Modern farming methods are incredibly damaging to the planet but everyone ignores that and points the finger at the motorist instead!
  4. That must have been it then Johnny. You must be pleased. I'll keep Motorsport electronics in mind for any future purchases!
  5. Good on you for using some decent PPE. Too many people spend thousands on their cars but little to nothing to protect their health.
  6. It's much more rewarding to save and restore original parts if you can 👍 I bought myself some 1600e front struts this week. They need some work but I took a chance on them as they don't seem to come up for sale very often.
  7. I thought the leaf springs were different between series 1 and 2 cars as the seller I bought my springs from had two sets, one for series 1 and one for series 2. I wasn't sure what the difference was until I looked at your diagram.
  8. Thanks Steve, I don't have the 1600E hubs yet. I assume they are required? Can I re-use deluxe caliper bolts?
  9. I'm going to use Series 2 1600E struts on my '70 Deluxe. Can anyone tell me which calipers I need buy? Cheers, Matt.
  10. Thanks for the update. Maybe slow progress of late but you're still getting bits done. I still haven't started work on my MK2 but I did pick up some 1600e leaf springs for it a while back!
  11. What are your test pieces like on the other side? You need to know you are getting full weld penetration.
  12. Check out Trevsblog on YouTube for tips on setting up the welder.
  13. Must have been a real treat for the residents.
  14. I would also like to see more pics of the Cortina. Do you have a build thread on the Escort at all?
  15. Really interesting thread. I'd like to hear more about your race cars and on track experiences. And a build thread on your savage rep would be great!
  16. Those kitchen tables do make great workbenches!
  17. What a car. The underside is incredible. I assume it has very low miles and has been garaged all its life!
  18. Coming along nicely. Keep the pics coming Johnny.
  19. Very impressive. That dust cap came out great!
  20. Sounds like you've got a nice usable classic there. The paint has a bit of patina which is nice as you don't need to worry too much about scratching it. What's the plan now? Are you still going to move it on?
  21. Well done for getting this back on the road while having another project on the go.
