I can get the light out but putting a jump pos on the battery so i believe the battery is out. Am I right by saying the light will go out when the voltage on both sides of the bulb is equal meaning the alternator is putting out more than the battery. And edition is my stupid phone predictive sorry

That's Great thanks. Although it is charging the battery light is not going out strange

simmo490 started following need to borrow a wiper?, alternator wiring help, Diff preload....didnt realise it had a crush washer :( and and 2 others

Hi all On my pinto edition lump I have the standard alternator. I have just wired this up as it's a new install and can only remember removing two wires. It's the alternator with 2 obviously poles with plastic shield 8mm and 10mm nut i think. One to the bulb then to pos the other to battery. When running the light is staying on though. Now there is a third post on the bottom of the alternator...am I missing a wire or should this just be it? thanks

Seems Alot of work for just doing the pre load. I would rather do it myself just need to know what is best practice thanks mate -
Hi All, After some advice. Just put my diff flange back on after having it at the prop builders. Without even thinking i just whacked it on and tightned it up (using stanard ratchet with handbrake on) Not realising these were not fixed tube but a crush sleve. Can anyone tell me if this suggestion is the done thing: Buy a Spring Balance Remove Flange nut and reseat it set up the preload using Spring balance Or am i going to have to replace the washer etc now? If so what is the easiest way to replace this. Thanks All

simmo490 replied to simmo490's topic in Technical Discussion
Hi thanks all. She lives and looking and sounding pretty sweet. The problem was a large volts drop dropping out relay because of my duff battery. Now I just need to work out which wires to earth on the octane wires: ( thanks for all the help -

Well I have my pump priming and cranking but I have not put the fuel lines know yet. I can already see a problem though. When cranking the fuel pump drops out but when releasing the key it momentarily comes back in again. Also noticed no taco on cranking. Wonder if I have a big volt drop on cranking knocking out the ecu. Will put jumps on it -

Oh, I have a yellow and black lone wire with a shielded spade connector. Am I right in saying this goes to the starter solenoid and is designed to detect cranking and alter timing for a better start? Do people use this. Thanks -

Hi all Thanks for the reply. Although I never saw these I cracked on anyway The octane plug i earthed all 3. Is this the right combination? diag i cut out Green i put to coil -ve i dont have any wiring loom in the car so the black +15v i put to the out on the power relay on the ecu. I think I saw this on some wiring diagram. Is this right or should it be key switch? Although I have not cranked it yet I have powered up and I have got a live ecu relay and a priming fuel pump: ) -
