Hello all. I'm trying to figure out which supplier would be the best to source window rubbers from. Everyone appears to have different experiences and am hoping there's a reputable supplier that is as close to original as possible. It's a Mk2 series 1. Also a lead on where to find the red pinch seal on the door. It's a material type and the only stuff I can find looks way different. Cheers

Alternator is spitting out 13.4V. AGM is on Mk4 but battery relocated to the boot.

My battery gets really hot and boiling. It seems to be keeping its charge. It's an AGM type.. How do I suss this? I'm meant to be going on a 500km journey in about 10 hours. Thanks!

All the knobs I have are starting to look corroded in the picture. Is there any way to repair these?? Thanks

How come after replacing the follower you had to replace the cam? I reckon one of the lobes has lost about a mil and it isn't 100% smooth. Will that cause noise? Will remove all followers and look for anything other than perfect. Would an aftermarket cam need smaller clearances? I've done 0.008 inlet and 0.010 exhaust valve..

I've tried the valve clearances again an they are spot on and I couldn't see any serious wear on the followers. Tick won't leave. Would it be messy and dangerous to start the engine without the rocker cover on?

Pinto has a nasty tick. Im sure I've done the valve clearances correctly. Anything else it can be?

So can anyone tell me the difference between the super, deluxe, gt, base? Were there different components for the different displacements?

I haven't been able to get photos up yet and these are 6 months old. I want to restore this to factory and want to know how to identify the subtle differences between the specs. Column shift manual and bench seat, is that rare? What parts are interchangeable between the marks as I start to hunt out parts..

Hey has anyone relocated the battery to the boot before? If so where did you earth? Would the bottom of the wheel well where the tow bar holes be ok for earthing a battery and two amps? Is an earth that's 1m long be two long, given the positive is 0.5m?

Hey the Cortina 50 year anniversary meet in NZ is next month so I went and got my badges rechromed. They're now f*#ked. Any chance someone has some nice badges preferably new Cortina and 1.6 for a Mk4, i.e with pins. Cheers

I'm starting to notice the dash top in my mk4 is catching on the glovebox lid. Does anyone have a remedy for this? Thanks

Thanks I had the it 180 degrees out, idiota lol. If I don't know whether to take the ballist resistor out is it better to try running electronic ignition with or without it. i.e will it blow the dizzy or something with it in/out? So i've got the engine running again (YAY!) but it doesnt turn off with the key so had to pull centre of dizzy lead out to kill it. The battery drained over night. Is this an earthing problem at the key part of the ignition circuit? I'm dying to get a WOF (MOT)!

Not to worried about being genuine, more interestedin hooking it up. Theres no box and the unit says something about escort. I read the ballist resister needs to be replaced with certain units. With no timing light im trying to get the points dizzy running the car and then swap afterwards. Or whatever easier. I'm trying to time the car to 8 btdc but gas keeps popping out the carb.

Does anyone have a manifold to suit a 2.0 pinto with 45 dellortos? Looking for one that doesn't require modification of the battery tray.

I know there are a few old threads on here but I cant seem to find one that gives me a definite answer. The dizzy I bought second hand on an auction site and I'm unsure if it's genuine or not. So all I need to do is hook the wires to B+, Coil- and earth and it will work?
