It does sound like a Mk2 set up and therefore , if you are keeping the current bellhousing ( will be marked either 3014 or 3034 for mk2 part) , I think you will need to stick to the parts that are fitted or same replacements as its not possible to mix and match tho the friction plate is the same .

Just checked on my car and the spare wheel side is as I thought , it fits on top of the boot floor as it is recessed there but only on that side , toolwell is the opposite . Steve

I think thats the car I sent a previous owner the S badge on rear quarter . It comes from a MK2 Consul if you need to find one !! Steve.

Its a long while ago but I think the boot floor has an indent at that edge and the well side fits on top of the boot floor . Can check tomorrow if nobody else pipes up ?? Steve.

From what I remember , the alternator will only produce what is needed up to a maximum of the 45amp which is unlikely to be required by a Cortina of that era . My Savage has a 50amp ammeter but does use the original thick brown wire as per factory but adapted for the alternator so I dont think you will have any issues with the wiring once you have done the conversion .

Hi there- the original rads were specially made by a firm in London as they hold a lot more water and had a fan switch in as well . You can get away with a Cortina large top tank rad but it really needs one of the longer ones and then fit the modern 3 row core that would need the tanks resoldered on to it . I think mine held about 19 pints in the system. If you do go down the road of a rebuild , get them to put a right angled outlet on the bottom as it makes it much easier to get a hose to fit especially if you have the Corsair angled water pump outlet which faces the front of the car instead of the Capri one which points towards the floor .

Hi Simon - yes , 3038 is mk1 Capri and generally used on the earlier cars as later Capri parts were 71EB etc . Steve.

Sounds daft , but it earths through the brass on the lens through the body of the roof so if you havent got it screwed to the roof it wont work .

Seem to remember Anglias in this colour so googled that and it came up as paint code CP and a colour sample as well if thats any help , 105E owners club page .

So , was the car running with the 5 speed box in it before ?? A friend was caught out by the different length first motion shaft many years ago on a Capri and I also have known them to break as it seems to me something more than propshaft - just a thought ! Steve.

I have a universal joint with a 14mm spline on one end and a clamp on the other which might do a turn 🤔
-
Not a cheap alternative but retroford , burtons and stage1 all do a pedal to adapt to cable for a mk1 . I would think you could adapt mk2 stuff easily enough - BUT only if you can find all the bits !!

MK1 Cortina with Capri Mklll front suspension
mk2sav replied to GhiaMk4/5's topic in Suspension, Steering, & Brakes
Quite possibly the case as rear axle on Mk1 Capri is 50inch but 52inch for later mk2 and 3 but dont now about the crossmember. -
Ah , probably not for an export car as you probably have a column lock with the ignition switch combined . Those keys are not the same series but door and boot can be the same .
-
Should be Bosch K jetronic which google says readily available . Steve
-
H there - not sure where you would get them but maybe try BGH geartech in the UK . There must be some around as I think floor change 3 rail box is pretty standard from then .
-
Ahh , parts books not here so have to wait for Craig - !!
-
No mate - the T in the part number means 2 door , to go with the other ones you posted a day or so ago . 4 door ones have a closed end whereas the ones for a 2 door fit on the ones you had - open ended if you get me .
-
Not suck eggs time but if your Mk1 is standard , it will be positive earth . It does look like a bit of a chore to get rev counter working on some set ups looking on various websites .
-
blimey , how weird is that , nobody seems to do that type anymore . Must be some somewhere but not easily found !
-
Hi Matt - originals were P16 which are imperial but you can use M16 with the metric thread nuts as they seem easier to get . Steve.
-
plus one for Trevsblog - simple explanations in English .
-
Ok Craig - this has come up on Faceache - man called Roger Chinery in Essex owns the car . Not sure if its his van or not . Steve.
-
Mk2 Cortina and Escort mk1 are the same but the Mk1 Cortina is different as the operating cam is in a different place and much shorter overall . Steve.

Ok mate - checked the parts book and the 2831 engine did use a diaphragm clutch cover . The Anglia boys have got around the same issues by the looks of it . Uprating Clutch – Ford Anglia 105E Owners' Club (105eoc.com)
