  1. Big project! Top job bringing it back.
  2. I’d check your shocks too - they have their own bushes that can wear and cause knocking
  3. We had a car that did similar - double check the top bolts on the rear shocks are fully tightened.
  4. Loads of info! I’m not surprised - Clive was the sort of guy to keep documentation. From memory there was a small repair on the o/s rear panel Clive did with a rattle can.

  6. Nice car! If you’ve not got it, Grab a copy of feb 2010 Retroford for an 8 page article on the car. Clive Dixon used to own it for many years - I have a photo of my cortina with it that I’m currently unable to load up.
  7. You gotta love a Moose!
  8. Still looking stunning, John.
  9. Yes still got the Huntsman. I work for a couple that run a garden nursery business open to the public. I do the deliveries and much of the physical stuff behind the scenes.
  10. Thanks Dean. I’m really pleased how paint etc has stood up. A good wax will quickly bring it back to where I want it.
  11. Hi John Hope you’re well? Yes, standard 185 tyres - existing are dated 2009 and one has dry rot. It’ll be top off carb and clean jets - certain there’s a bit of varnish build up in there.
  12. It’s been ages since I’ve had time to even think about my LS. I left Openreach after 35 years, got myself a physically demanding but stress free job, had a new knee and been looking after two ailing parents. Sadly we lost Dad in January this year. Anyhow today I took time out to fit a new battery and bring the old girl home for a wash and a quick tinkering. Need to order some new tyres, adjust front wheel bearings and go through the carb next time out. Good news is I still have the Cortina mojo 😀 Here’s a few of the old girl taken today because we all love a few Cortina snaps!
  13. Top work. It all takes time.
  14. Happy Christmas to you Craig and all on BSC.
  15. Great to see progress however small! Well done you. I burnt out with my previous employer and now enjoy a very different and happy lifestyle albeit I have less free time. Sanity first.
  16. Very pleased it’s running. Be wary of accuspark as there’s some damning reports on them - jack shaft etc poorly engineered leading to failure.
  17. Can you try original ignition switch again as car previously worked with it? I don’t know wiring for your car but that ‘missing’ wire from the battery seems odd.
  18. You could always spray some carb cleaner into the carb and see if it coughs when you turn it over. Carb may be blocked or float stuck shut. That should then rule out fuel if you have a spark. . Your coil is correctly wired? As Craig says, a new coil may help. You mention cleaning the earth wires - you not missed connecting any? ballast resistor wire (if you have on your car)- all contacts clean ? Points gapped correctly and clean. Rotor arm in? Distributor cap securely on? Simple things but easy to miss!
  19. Lovely car! Still look g good.
