Charlie started following Looking for someone to do bodywork for my Mk3
-
My Mk3 GT has been off the road about 5 years, I'm looking to get the rust sorted, a respray, mend a hole in the petrol tank.. a few little jobs to get it in good drivable condition basically. Main rust spots from memory are wheel arches, rear boot, a leak from somewhere that collects in the footwells. As it's a vinyl roof there are rust lumps underneath that too, I'll probably get rid of it completely rather than refitted a new one. Anyway it's been ten years since it's had any major maintenance, by Nigel (LHD16E on this forum) I believe he's retired now. I'm based in London but car is currently in Gloucestershire. Will need towing as clutch is seized from standing so long. Please PM me if you're interested in working on it or know someone who might be Charlie

Hello all, just received this email via Star Cars: if anyone can help, you can reply at mike@starcarhire.co.uk I've done a few jobs for them with my mk3, they usually pay pretty well!
-
Does anyone on here have one for sale? when they crop up on ebay they seem to be pretty pricey.
-
Wondering if anyone on here has one knocking around? thanks!
-
Here's my mk3 arriving at Secret Garden Party festival in Cambridgeshire last weekend, fully laden with 4 passengers, tents and booze!
-
just the inner part I think, the knob's alright it's just the catch that's buggered!
-
Hi, does anyone have just the catch for the glovebox as mine is almost impossible to open without a great deal of force!
-
Once I've collected the mk3 from Nigel I'm planning a jolly boys outing to Margate! there are no seatbelts in the back and I know the law states that it's one person per seatbelt, but what if there aren't any? ... Would it be alright to have four on the back seat? it's certainly big enough

reliable classic ford specialist near East London?

I got it off a bloke called Richard Harris (not the actor) in Chipping Norton about 10 years ago, it was advertised on the MTOC site, so I bought it, drove it for a bit until the engine seized (forgot to top up the oil!) got Craig (sheffieldcortinacentre) to put a new engine & gearbox in, 1600 & a 5 speed from a Sierra, then ran out of money so parked it up in my Mum's garage, where it's been sitting for the last 8 years, gathering dust/rust and being used as a nut store for a squirrel. Hoping to have it all sorted out for the Spring/Summer money permitting, thank god they've changed the tax exemption laws recently! -
Hi there, I've got a mk3 that's been off the road for about 6 years, amongst other things it needs a new clutch. Basically I don't know much about mechanics and need someone who knows what they're doing and has the right parts to get it going! which are the best and or cheapest places in London? cheers!

Hi there, does anyone know of any garages in the Glos area that could carry out some basic work on my mk3? just need someone who'll come and have a look at it and diagnose the problem - which I think is clutch related - it basically wont go into gear - have tried rocking/starting it in gear to no avail, may be a few other things wrong as it's been sitting for a couple of years, so garages with supplies of relevant spares would be wonderful!
-
£6? may as well stock up on it then! thanks chaps
-
There's a roll of it on ebay for a Mk4/5, is it the same stuff? or if not, anyone know where I can get some, the rusty brown look isn't very fetching!
-
I need a pair of the wiper blades (with silver metal attachment) for a 1973 Mk3 (pre facelift, don't know if there's any difference) needed ASAP before it starts raining again! cheers Charlie
-
Ah right I was looking for the part the other side of the wheelarch, never mind!
